This is something like the fourth pub chat thread - please pull up a chair at the bar. Everyone welcome. Smile

Old thread is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/1920422-The-Feminist-Pub-continued?

But it's pretty much full so welcome in.

She rants on like that for a bit I seem to recall. As I said, that's where she lost me.

PacificDogwood · 17/01/2014 21:59

Laurus nobilis

PacificDogwood · 17/01/2014 22:00

Dogmatix - of course! Thanks Smile
He's cute.

Have I mentioned, I want a dog?

SinisterSal · 17/01/2014 22:01

Solidified blood pudding mmm
Anyone have any Clonakility black pudding, it's the best

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 17/01/2014 22:02

In the English Patient (book) it mentions "he had tasted her menstrual blood" as an indication, presumably, of how intimate they were.

I've never felt the need to myself

Oh, I might be tempted... I have never ever sited an epidural, but am happy to give it a go. How hard can it be? And what's the worst that could happen?? Wink

The lions at Melbourne zoo are getting frozen blood today

Oh, the English Patient (movie) makes me want to scream at the screen - all that bottled up emotion and stiff-upper-lippedness and tragedy and trappedness in social convention and suffering in beautiful cinematography and Fiennes - now there's a handsome man who does nothing for me.

SinisterSal · 17/01/2014 22:10

Bodily excretions are disgusting for the same reason too. i don't want your yucky germs! Unless I really really fancy you, in which case the sex urge overtakes the microbe avoiding one, or I really love you in which case...

Don't know where HCPs fit in this theory though.

littlelime · 17/01/2014 22:10

Sorry to backtrack but in the subject of the mooncup, on removal does anyone else's uterus feel like it is going to fall out? Or am i just doing it wrong?
Blush

PacificDogwood · 17/01/2014 22:11

Buffy, I think ice pack and Brufen are less hassle and more reliable. And, frankly, probably all you need.

I was prepared to marry the anaesthetist who did mine...

SinisterSal · 17/01/2014 22:12

Who was the lucky moo in that scenario, you or the anaesthetist, Pacific?

littlelime, I am no expert, but is there some trick to release the suction before you pull it out? Or something? So I heard...

Sal, trust me, it's amazing what you can get used to with repeated exposure...
Here's something I often wonder: how come a bit of baby wee is hardly ever seen as 'disgusting', but old man piss is horrible?? It truly is the same stuff - why do we perceive it so differently?
I have been widdled on more than once by my darling (male) offspring and, thankfully, only once by a drunk old man and I know what upset me more...

PacificDogwood · 17/01/2014 22:15

Sal, me Grin.
He had probably been on his feet for 24 hrs and I was his 257th hysterically begging patient. I think DH loved him too...

kickassangel · 17/01/2014 22:15

I am definitely of the view that bodily fluids are yuck, but don't think that stops me from having accepte my menstruation.
It probably means I am a bit uptight about body stuff and I am happy with that. Farting should only happen in the bathroom and I want to know nothing about your noises or smells or liquids or anything.

Keep it clean, people.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 17/01/2014 22:16

Pacific, I love the English Patient so I read the book. It was so different - the Ralph F and Kristin S-T relationship is really only one chapter in the book.

PenguinsDontEatKale · 17/01/2014 22:17

Yeah, you have to release the suction first.

I hated my epidural. It's all a big con I tell you. The patriarchy is probably implicated somewhere.

PacificDogwood · 17/01/2014 22:24

I may give the book a go - I love books. The movie gives me hives - I don't know why I react so strongly against it. Ack.

Me too. I am now at the 'propped up by pillows, hips hurt' stage. 3 months to go.

Oooh, I do love a bit of West Wing. Where are you up to at the moment?
