A "friend" just shared this link on Facebook.

Words fail me.

" There are boys out there waiting and hoping for women of character. Some young men are fighting the daily uphill battle to keep their minds pure, and their thoughts praiseworthy"

Ffs.

I hate stuff like this. Why does being sexual as a young woman mean that women is not worthy of love.

NoComet · 12/12/2013 10:25

For fucks sake what does she think her DSs see every time they go swimming or walk down the street on a summers day.

Yes sexual selfies make young girls look stupid, and they should be proud of more than their looks, but looking good and being approved of does make girls happy.

Everyone male or female feels more confident if they feel they look good.

Even my DH, who is the least fashion conscious person on the planet (he just wears what I buy) still won't go out without shaving.

HowlingTrap · 12/12/2013 11:12

I think the whole tone of the post is very patronising and condesending, My parents didn't look through 'pictures of the summer' on my SN sites, they seem like one of those families that are a little over involved.

However, as a mother of sons I don't think I'd be a fountain of tolerance If I came across similar pictures, I think to myself oh dear god woman! But I'm not naiive enough to think that my sons maybe have added this person because they post those kinds of images. So I wouldn't be all
" 'don' currup' ma' boy now!'

HowlingTrap I'm a mother of a son and I hope I handle stuff like sexy selfies and that sort of thing better then a bout of public slut shaming. My son is only 2 so hoping I can come up with a better way of dealing with it.

I wonder if the blogger instead of deleting the girl (who she was friends with) and talked about the images with her. What they might mean and what impact that might have, who might see them and how the girl would feel about that.

HowlingTrap · 13/12/2013 10:26

The reality is you only have to go to your corner shop to see some some walking around barely dressed, as well as being a bit mean making your son delete people is rather pointless, sadly its the culture we live in.

Like another poster said, there is a relevant point deep in that mess of a post, had she pointed out that, its there forever once you upload, think of longterm,.etc ,may have been recived better.

I think it's so so awful and aimed completely in the wrong direction :(

One of the most fucking depressing blog posts ever.
