Extremely offensive baby products on Amazon by brand Fonfella

I came across this product on Amazon whilst looking for baby clothes: www.amazon.co.uk/WANTED-BLOWJOB-BABYGROW-Months-SLEEVE/dp/B00D90UJ4U/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1374869417&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=baby+grow+all+daddy+wanted
I'm obviously concerned that this has slipped through the net at Amazon and sure its hard for them to monitor everything, but this is beyond the pale. More importantly though, I'm totally shocked that British company Fonfella could come up with this product in the first place. I've raised a complaint with Amazon, but some moral support would be great! Feel free to follow up with Fonfella too:
Fonfella Limited, Po Box 444, Sutton, SM1 9LJ - UK

oof at "can't take a joke"
That's me told
it's actually more than that - I think it's quite vile to dress children in these clothes. And I don't like people who are vile to children, or companies that encourage it.
Before anyone leaps in, no I am not comparing it to child abuse. Yes, child abuse is worse. Thank you.

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 18:16

Are we supposed to stop selling a very popular product ....

Just because something is 'popular' doesn't mean you're obligated to sell it if you know it's nasty. Just because some people find a think funny doesn't mean it's OK. Presumably there are 'jokes' you would draw the line at? Where you draw that line is up to your conscience... for many of us you've overstepped it.

Try to avoid posting belligerent exchanges on national websites. Try not to call swathes of mothers humourless (nor humouriousless).

hothereinnit · 29/07/2013 18:18

translation of fonfella's last post:

I think the products are distasteful and vile too, and wouldn't put them on my child.

But I will happily fleece any mug who WILL buy them, and refuse to see that I might be perpetuating or adding to any social problem.

Fonfella, there are many people and companies who WOULD stop selling something if they found it distasteful, or had a reasonable amount of customer feedback to that effect. It's not all about money, you know.

PatriciaHolm · 29/07/2013 18:22

Sigh. I think you are missing the point. It's not about not being "able to take a joke", it's about the slogans being massively inappropriate for infants. Maybe some parents do think it's funny; doesn't make it any less inappropriate.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 29/07/2013 18:23

Hmm. Must have missed all those well known teetotallers who choose to work in breweries.

Funny products are supposed to be funny - yes? Not sexualising a baby. That isn't funny.

Jokes about the holocaust are funny! Lets sell those! How about lynching black people? That is laugh a minute! *

  • sarcasm for the hard of thinking.
GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 18:25

Pagwatch... he's asking to get haiku'd or limericked. The former would probably be too subtle...

MurderOfGoths · 29/07/2013 18:28

This may be the worst PR disaster I've ever seen.. impressively bad almost..

Roshbegosh · 29/07/2013 18:28

No scruples Fonfella? You would sell anything to make a few bob? What kind of person are you?

Pagwatch · 29/07/2013 18:29

Aww, I kind of like him.
Reminds me of a guy I interviewed who, when asked how he would deal with a really difficult situation, cheerfully replied 'I'd probably shit myself'
Rather brilliantly he thought about it before replying!

Certainly I am going to use humourious. Often.

courgetteDOTcom · 29/07/2013 18:30

I love the mumsnet effect! Sadly fonfella obviously wasn't aware of it before she decided to post here.

Jokes on adults who can choose them, however vile are their business, if they choose to put their beliefs on their chest and tell us how racist or sexist they are, they deserve whatever is coming to them. Babies haven't got an option.

MurderOfGoths · 29/07/2013 18:32

pag That's brilliant. Grin

Think I'll just relax here with some popcorn, always fun to watch someone digging themselves out of a hole by insulting the very people who could help them out.

BIWI · 29/07/2013 18:32

I always thought jokes were supposed to be funny. Confused

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 29/07/2013 18:32

And what about the big brothers and sisters who can read it?

The implications that the baby wasnt even wanted are awful. It's not remotely funny.

FannyMcNally · 29/07/2013 18:34

Ditto pag! I've already used it on fb. I love it. GrinReminds me of Hilda Ogden's murial.

MrsBungle · 29/07/2013 18:37

I, too, am agog at this pr disaster!

It would seem amazon have taken it down.

poppingin1 · 29/07/2013 18:40

I dunno...

I just wouldn't see this on a baby and imagine anything sexual in regards to the baby, but that's just me, I am no peado. Here come the heebies again!

I would however point it out in shock that someone would actually dress their child in something so gross.

But no, I don't think this comes under the definition of sexualisation of a minor, just tasteless yucky crap.

EauRouge · 29/07/2013 18:42

Next time anyone says "there's no such thing as bad publicity", I'm going to email a link to this thread.

PoppyAmex · 29/07/2013 18:45

Just got an email from Amazon regarding my complaint:

The items you referenced are not available for sale. Thank you for contacting us.

Going on about the babygros/babygrows being your best sellers just proves there is a large amount of idiots around.

meditrina · 29/07/2013 18:46

Well, I'd not heard of the company before today, though I was aware of the products.

It all depends on your idea of worthwhile publicity.

But, unless MNHQ can come on here and verify that the user named "fonfella" is indeed an official company representative, then do be aware they could be anyone. Just like OP, who has only ever posted on this thread (name changer?)

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 29/07/2013 18:47

Result!

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 29/07/2013 18:50

Yessssssss....

FannyMcNally · 29/07/2013 18:51

I've just got my email as well. I didn't mention specifically the MILF one, although I said two products were offensive, and unfortunately that one is still up. But good on Amazon for responding. I will carry on buying my ecloths from them!

MissStrawberry · 29/07/2013 18:51

I wonder if Natalie still has her job?
