Extremely offensive baby products on Amazon by brand Fonfella

I came across this product on Amazon whilst looking for baby clothes: www.amazon.co.uk/WANTED-BLOWJOB-BABYGROW-Months-SLEEVE/dp/B00D90UJ4U/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1374869417&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=baby+grow+all+daddy+wanted
I'm obviously concerned that this has slipped through the net at Amazon and sure its hard for them to monitor everything, but this is beyond the pale. More importantly though, I'm totally shocked that British company Fonfella could come up with this product in the first place. I've raised a complaint with Amazon, but some moral support would be great! Feel free to follow up with Fonfella too:

(I'm StealthPolarBear)

"Fonfella0 Mon 29-Jul-13 17:46:00

StealthPolarBear - now you are just getting so far away from the subject. It is not a babygrow with a huge penis on it. "

But what, exactly, is the difference? Please explain it to me. The baby can't read and wouldn't understand what they were seeing in the picture.

FrussoHathor · 29/07/2013 17:47

I saw the same type (with the same slogans) on eBay earlier today. Strangely when I was searching for snowsuits.
I wondered at the time wtf would put one on their child.

sameoldIggi · 29/07/2013 17:47

Can't see the link on Amazon, is it withdrawn? I don't much like the idea you are saying the baby was not wanted by its father, mostly. I'd be interested in how many actual parents buy these, as opposed to blokes buying one for their "mates".
But if mumsnet has taught me anything, it's that there's no accounting for taste...

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 29/07/2013 17:48

Are you seriously telling me every time you look at a person you think of sex?

How about if they're wearing an item of clothing with a sexiually explicit sentence on?

Fonfella0 · 29/07/2013 17:49

SOME people find it vile. Others find it the joke it is intended to be. It is actually one of our most popular selling babygrows.

Kendodd · 29/07/2013 17:49

That's horrible, if I saw a child wearing that I would think the parents were seriously stupid for buying such tasteless tat.

What are you hoping for though OP? Do you want them to be withdrawn from sale?

As much as I dislike this item, I wouldn't want the company to be forced to stop selling them (unlike the Primark padded bras for children).

poppingin1 · 29/07/2013 17:50

I find the implication that the baby was not wanted more insulting than anything else.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 29/07/2013 17:51

I find it distasteful and agree with Iggi about it implying the child wasn't wanted. Its just nasty. It wouldn't be acceptable for a child to walk around wearing a t shirt with that charming slogan on, so why is this babygro okay?

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 29/07/2013 17:52

Suzy, I expect it would be as long as they couldn't read!

poppingin1 · 29/07/2013 17:52

Frances was that question to me?

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 29/07/2013 17:52

popping, do agree about the implication the child was unwanted

hothereinnit · 29/07/2013 17:53

Fonfella, you are avoiding answering the question about the "I'm with the MILF' slogan.

Do you a) think it is ok for a baby to be wearing something which says "i'm with the mum I'd like to fuck' on it (I guess so, since your company produces them), and b) how the fuck is that not sexualising a baby? (presumably the answer to this is why you are avoiding answering the original question...)

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 29/07/2013 17:53

Yes because you were saying that when a woman is pregnant everyone knows how it happened. Well of course they do, but they don't tend to think of vaginal intercourse every time they see the baby. I know I don't/

SconeInSixtySeconds · 29/07/2013 17:53

I am of the opinion that if a product is not one you would personally like to associate with then you should have the morals not to sell it.

It would be like Mary Whitehouse opening a chain of pole dancing clubs.

FannyMcNally · 29/07/2013 17:53

But Fonfella you have one saying ' I'm with the milf'. That IS the baby saying it.

waterlego6064 · 29/07/2013 17:56

I don't think babies should be made to wear clothing with lewd slogans on. It's creepy. I'd judge the parents of a child I saw wearing one, and I'd avoid buying anything from companies who stocked such items.

On a bit of a tangent, I saw a babygro in a shop in Norway bearing the slogan 'Fuck Yoga'. I did actually find that funny but I still wouldn't put my baby in one. I think the Norwegians can be excused because they use 'Fuck' willy-nilly over there, and it doesn't have the same status as a swear word as it does here.

mamij · 29/07/2013 18:00

WTF? Someone thinks putting these vile slogans on a babygro and allow a baby to be laughed at whilst wearing it is ok?

As to the MILF, of course it's sexualising children and insinuating sexual innuendos.

OP, maybe it's something trading standards will look into?

courgetteDOTcom · 29/07/2013 18:01

It's not about thinking of having sex with the baby (although the MILF one is suggesting the baby having sex with the mother Confused) it's putting a slogan about sex on a baby. Babies are innocent, they shouldn't be being decorated with sex. Yes, we all know where they come from but most of us aren't looking at them wondering what the parents did to conceive them!

poppingin1 · 29/07/2013 18:01

But that's my point!

We all know conception = sex, but we don't all walk around thinking of pregnant women as sexualised objects just because they have a huge bump protruding in front of them. All sane people will just think of a pregnant woman as a pregnant woman, no more, no less.

We all know babies happen because of sex, we don't all sit around and think of babies as sexualised objects just because we know their parents had sex in order to create them. The item has a reference to the conception of the child on the front, it doesn't as Fonfella said, say that the baby is sexual but rather that the parents are, which is what the baby is an indicator of to begin with. The stork didn't bring the baby in through an open window, much as disney would like us to believe is the case.

PeazlyPops · 29/07/2013 18:02

PeazlyPops - I personally have never found a joke about rape or pedophilia funny. Do you?

No I don't. I don't find babygros with blow job jokes on funny either, what point are you trying to make?

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 29/07/2013 18:03

Hahaha

PatriciaHolm · 29/07/2013 18:04

I take it no-one's spotted the equally vile "all mummy wanted was a massage" one yet?

They seem to specialise in nasty tat. Given it's not on Amazon any more, someone at least would appear to agree.

Hulababy · 29/07/2013 18:07

You seriously have to think about the character of the type of people who

(a) consider it funny
(b) woudd buy them
(c) would out a baby in one
(d) would produce it
(d) would market /sell it

Yes, okay - we know it isn't about the baby being involved in a sexual act - but what type of person puts a baby in an item of clothing describing a sexual act?!?! I mean - really?!

Fonfella0 · 29/07/2013 18:08

I think you are all missing the point by attacking my company. We sell funny slogan items - for adults, kids and babies (even dogs). That is what we do. Some people find it funny, others don't. It is your personal opinion.

Somebody who works for a pharmaceutical company may not like all the products that they produce. If someone works for a brewery they might not personally drink alcohol or like the effects of it. To ask how I can associate myself with a company that sells funny slogan merchandise is ridiculous!

Whilst I would not dress my child in any of the funny slogan babygrows (yes, even the MILF one), they sell very well. MANY parents see the funny side of this.

Are we supposed to stop selling a very popular product just because there are some people out there who can't take a joke?

FrancesDeLaTourCoughngIntoABin · 29/07/2013 18:10

poppingin then I don't understand. no, we don't think of sex automatically when we look at a baby. Unless they have a reference to a sex act in huge letters on their clothing. Then I know I do.
