There is a good article in the Times supplement today about this.. What do you think? Should young girls be looking up to this type of women and aspire to be like them? The way they have made themselves look physically is such a shame.

They claim to be intelligent and
I have
no doubt they are in many ways, (either academically and savvy from a business-sense perhaps) but they are not so clever NOT to rise above the growing trend to conform to the false eyelash/ Botox/ plastic look that is becoming more and more popular.

I like to look good, wear some make-up, pay attention to what I'm wearing but up to a point. To me these women are not fighting the case for feminism. In fact, I think it's the opposite

I would seriously doubt anyone who claimed to have been accepted onto a medical degree aged 16, or anyone else whose supposed experience does not tally well with the age they claim to be.

What if you are wrong Clanger? As I said, her uni are very happy that one of their alumni has won this contest. There is no evidence that she has lied about her age or qualifications.

She wouldn't have received a MD (Doctor of Medicine) in that time period. It would be a MB (Batchelor of Medicine) Most medical doctors don't have the MD qualification, which is much more advanced.

She is definitely a qualified doctor, as she can be found on the GMC list of medical practitioners here you have to do a search on her name.
However by the time she filmed the show, she had only completed 1 year of postgraduate training which makes her very junior indeed, and not someone who I would allow to inject my face. Cosmetic training for qualified healthcare professionals is not arduous at all and could have been done quite easily alongside her first year as a doctor.
(I am a doctor)

Leah is a doctor who's completed her foundation yr1 which leads to full gmc registration

A qualified doctor is a BM. - most have this. A more highly qualified doctor is a DM. An even more highly qualified doctor has a DM plus a PhD

The MD bit was me refering to the fact that she is a medical doctor as opposed to a Phd. Apologies for any confusion.

All medical students in the UK will initially take an undergraduate course leading to a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. Depending upon the university - this will lead to one of the following qualifications - MBBS; MBBS/BSc; MBChB; MBBCh; BMBS - all of which are normally referred to as a "first MB".
