'Keep Calm And Rape' T-Shirts 'A Mistake'
Solid Gold Bomb said it had received death threats after the garments were advertised by the seller on Amazon's website.
The T-shirt makers' Twitter account was bombarded with scores of angry messages - many of which said: "Rape is not a joke."
But a statement on the Solid Gold Bomb website insisted the offensive slogans had been "automatically generated using a scripted computer process running against hundreds of thousands of dictionary words".
"Needless to say, receiving death threats is certainly uncalled for as there was no intention of wrongdoing in any manner," the statement said.
"We're sorry for the ill-feeling this has caused! We're doing our best here to fix the problem.
"Any offensive items that are remaining are certainly in the deletion queue and will be removed as soon as the processing is complete."
The company said the scripted programming process that created the slogan was compiled by "only one member of our staff", but that it "accepted the responsibility of the error".
Other slogans reportedly available on the T-shirts appeared to support the claim they were at least partly randomly-generated, including 'Keep Calm And Rape In'.
A series of critical reviews were also posted on the Amazon website page showing the T-shirts.
One, from a person under the username 'Sickened', said: "Not even slightly amusing. Disgusted. I will be boycotting amazon until this item is withdrawn! It is offensive, in extremely poor taste and could be very triggering for any victims of abuse."
A spokesman for Amazon UK told Sky News: "I can confirm that those items are not available for sale."
