Would anyone like to join in an effort to convince retailers to stop categorizing toys by gender?

Following on from this thread and similar ones, a few of us are interested in discussing ways to send a message to retailers that it is not acceptable to designate 'boys' and 'girls' toy aisles which reinforce the message that science and adventure are "boys stuff", while girls should be primarily occupied with looking 'sexy' or practicing for domestic drudgery.

The first steps might be to draft a letter and identify a few retailers to target for an email campaign. Other ideas of how to get the message across are very welcome too, though.

Why don't we do a shortlist of names and taglines, do a vote overnight on this thread, tally it up in the morning and then stick with it? I'd offer to write up the shortlist myself if only DS would GO TO SODDING SLEEP!

Grimma I know it's not clear, that's what I meant. Something with that idea, only clear and catchy (in a way that "Free to Play" is not)! :)

Unfortunately Just Play is being used by Mars/FA, slightly too big and too local a campaign

Darn, I'd been thesaurusing and about to suggest 'Just Play'.

Has anyone seen this today? All about the toy/gender issue in Sweden and how a new catalogue reverses the trend.

Mm mrsdevere, I think you've got a point- equal play sounds like a (fabulous) political slogan.
Not sure about the alternatives although with tag lines they might work.

Suspect I'm in the minority here but I'm going to stick with my earlier preference: 'Equal Play' with the tagline of 'Let Toys be Toys'.

Universal appeal, won't alienate the anti feminists (not immediately anyway) sounds cute, can get kids to say it (sorry kids)
