How exciting! The website looks like it is accepting bookings.

Are any of you planning on coming? I am fully expecting the FWR Mumsnetters to take over the open mic section of the evening do Grin

There is a group at the university, but I suspect I am really too old for that.

Thanks for the invite Alameda, but I am a lot older than 25

I'd check actually. A lot of the uni feminist groups allow non-voting members to attend all meetings and events. They just limit "official" voting membership to registered uni students to meet university guidelines on official clubs. I'm a member of quite a few via facebook.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 22/05/2012 21:16

Okay will do thanks

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 22/05/2012 21:19

I suppose I just assumed they wouldn't want an older woman to attend, but I will ask

Thanks Ethel. I am in the Midlands. I'm not sure the students would be impressed with you implying they are not grown ups - although I do kind of know what you mean

I kind of guessed thats what you meant and I do understand about wanting mature discussions. What put me off the Feministing Conference actually - although maybe unfairly - was that it was afraid it looked all a bit basic. I might have been totally unfair as I was just going with the programme I saw, but I don't actually want to discuss just the basic issues again.

What I would love actually is an online forum of feminists who were radical or close to that pov.

ecuse · 25/05/2012 16:42

I'm wholly supportive of women-only spaces. I'm just not supportive of those which exclude some women.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 25/05/2012 17:15

If you mean Trans people then the fundamental issue is that we disagree with the definition of a woman

ecuse · 25/05/2012 19:38

Indeed. I don't think it's my business to tell anyone who they are, or prioritise my theorising over their lived experience. The arrogance of thinking you can is staggering.
