I m shocked at callers saying its jst entertainment and every girl wants to be a princess so it like living out your dream. The member in the audience saying that "feminists" ,and yes she did use the air commas, are all big fat lesbians who are too ugly to be gawked at by men

it's a sad fact that some women see their sexual (and social if they choose to largely inhabit a world of men and give low value to females) currency - their identity is around not being a womany woman or offensive to men in any way.

i have been chatted up by men who think we're all like this and that slagging off other women to me and telling me how different i was to them (not neurotic, bitchy, desperate, pathetic, needy etc etc etc etc of charm) and actually thought this would be endearing to me Confused but it clearly worked for them usually.

WallowedInFlies · 04/11/2011 21:17

god that made no sense as a lump got cut out somehow. was saying they construct their ID and sexual/social currency on not being like 'other' women somehow.

EleanorRathbone · 04/11/2011 21:40

Yes, this wanting to be "one of the lads" nonsense.

If you need to be one of the lads to be accepted, then actually, you are not being accepted.

WallowedInFlies · 04/11/2011 22:00

and you're absolutely right about the men you're trying to get on side with being the men who can't stand women anyway at core.

vanfurgston · 05/11/2011 00:52

whats strange is that the woman who called in and said its absolutely ok and jst glamour and fun for girls considered herself a feminist.. iwas all Hmm

That's like the Liz Jones article this week - there's a thread somewhere - 'As a feminist I've always looked down on mumsy types....' plus childless women are mad sperm stealers whom you just can't trust.

Is the Wright Stuff a show for people a bit (whispers) thick, not in UK so don't know...

WallowedInFlies · 05/11/2011 13:32

well it's a show for people who watch daytime television so...?

maybenow · 05/11/2011 13:42

if beauty is only a small part of it then great - i'm going to enter Grin i'm quite talented, very good at sports that require great balance, good mountain biker... i can recite poetry, and i'm really quite good at judo... i'm intelligent too - got a maths degree - and a good public speaker...

do you think the fact i'm a chunky, muscly, 5'2" will hold me back? Grin - i do have naturally blonde hair... but it is naturally curly/wavy/messy...

vanfurgston · 05/11/2011 15:40

maybenow :o thats a whole lot more than all the beauty pageant aspirants wud ever dream of so there is no comparison :) u wud get 10/10 from me
of course wat the pageants like to perpetuate is the belief that all little girls and women want to b tall and starve (cz thats wat princesses do apparently) and of course v all want glamour

and more and more women buy into it. jst look at the number of baby pageants that have cropped up

Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh Plans to Go to Medical School

ItsLikeHeardingCats · 16/12/2019 13:56

Well, FWIW, I do not want to be a princess. Nor queen. I'm gunning straight for empress here, and I mean "regnant" not "consort".

Bullshit!

Milanimilani · 16/12/2019 15:16

Empress might be a tad difficult nowadays.

ItsLikeHeardingCats · 16/12/2019 18:01

Well, metaphorically speaking. Literally, it's more like COO.

There's always "Pope" for still existing titles. Reasonably certain that one has yet to go to a non-Catholic woman. Grin
