Just catching up on the new series, when I noticed The (gorgeous) Doctor had to ask Rory for permission to hug Amy.

A bit of a WTF moment.

Anyone know how this came about? Or thoughts on this?

Oh, if we're talking hearthrobs I have totally got the hots for Madame Vastra.

I completely see now why the Doctor asks for permission to hug Amy, and agree that it is demonstrating respect for Rory's insecurity rather than ownership.

And I did like how the Doctor addressed Rory+Amy as 'Ponds'.

Oh, I could go for River Song too ...

I don't get the attraction of the current Dr or Barrowman ... but each to their own.

SardineQueen · 29/08/2011 19:36

I can see the current doc as someone who grows on you

But the young woman yesterday took one look at him and said "you never said he was hot"

??????? Was my reaction

SardineQueen · 29/08/2011 19:36

John barrowman I can see, although he's too shiny for me. he is good looking

SardineQueen · 29/08/2011 19:37

I like it when we talk about "people I'd do" on feminism

I think it makes all the haters froth at the mouth "but you're objectifying the menz you hypocrites Grin

On this thread however everyone seems to be fair game Grin

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/08/2011 19:51

Tcha, you're so sexist Sardine. I was objectifying the womenz too.

Ahem.

No, actually, me and River Song, it'd be like a meeting of minds, I tells ya.

SardineQueen · 29/08/2011 19:53

I just can't seem to get going with the bi-sexual vibe, I'm sorry.

I like da menz partz though.

I even sometimes stroke their thighs Shock

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/08/2011 20:00

Sigh.

It's ok Sardine, we'll forgive you.

And I will apologize for leching. Which I wasn't, honest. Blush

Cerebral leching just sounds squidgy. Sad

There was a thread about objectification where someone said that women should have smooth legs so it's nice when men touch them, but it doesn't work the other way around and women don't really touch men's legs like that.

Cue much singgering.

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/08/2011 20:09

Mmm, my posts to you today have been a bit revolting, haven't they? It's not actually anything personal, honest!

SardineQueen · 29/08/2011 20:11

Bloody hell I can't string a sentence together tonight

Someone has leched all my cerebellum out Sad

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/08/2011 20:12

Oops, my last was to Spoons not Sardine.

I do find those kinds of threads funny though ... the shock at the idea of women actually liking men's bodies seems to be a constant. Likewise I sometimes get a very strong sense that some non-feminists have very, very boring sex lives.

(Not that I get to be smug, wretched DH is 'fasting' this week. Hmm)

I have a very boring sex life. Confused No sex life, in fact ... Miss! Does that mean Garlic's a Non-Feminist?!

SardineQueen · 29/08/2011 20:16

I know it often comes up on MN that men's bodies aren't beautiful in the same way as women's.

Bollocks, say I. As it were Grin

garlicnutter · 29/08/2011 20:17

Ahh ... I've got a nice beard coming along, though Blush

And I used to like hairy men's legs, if I cast my mind back that far ...

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/08/2011 20:19
Grin

Doesn't follow, garlic. If A therefore B, etc.

I can't agree with the inherent beauty of bollocks, Sardine, but I do think someone should write a novel of that title.

LRDTheFeministDragon · 29/08/2011 20:21

Btw, speaking of beards I noticed the image for a Guardian article about concealer today showed a woman's lip with a faint suggestion of hair ... I was quietly pleased it wasn't a perfectly smooth airbrushed version.
