ah, David has come back to repeat the lesson on how we're doing feminism wrong. Still, it keeps the thread bumped I suppose.

You can see details of the licence granted here. You have to click to accept the T&C's of the website and then search for "Hooters" in the trading name.

The licence was received 25/06/10 and issued 08/10/10.

People living in other towns need to be looking out for Hooter's applications in order to object or apply pressure to amend licensing conditions.

How funny that it took David 2hours to find this thread he used to be David51.

Ah. This will be the same David that was so engaging on the conversations about the Bristol Hooters then.

yes he certainly seems to be concerned about what we're all discussing here...

I haven't posted anything to do with the Bristol hooters.

How would you feel if people who disagreed with feminism tried to object to feminism centres being opened in their city?

I don'y disagree with all feminism but attempting to prevent law-abiding businesses from opening because you disagree with them is not right IMO. Once you do that it's the thin end of the wedge and all kind of minority groups could claim that a precedent had been set.

So you're saying you're not David31, the same one who has posted tons on feminism? Hmm And you just happened to be posting on all the same kinds of threads again? Hmm

So, did David31 get banned?

Are you the one who wrote that fab poem??

LOL it's really funny how many people called David share a posting style and are obsessed with feminist objections to Hooters.
Do you think there is one where I live too, who will appear if they try to open a Hooters here?

If I was going to post under multiple names, why would I use almost exactly the same name?

My name is David and I am 34 years old. That is why I am called David34.

David, presumably if someone wanted to open a feminism business Confused in my town it would neither use the beauty qualification to employ staff, nor objectify women. It wouldn't pass subliminal messages to my children about there worth as females, nor would I have a concern about increased sexual bullying around the premises late at night... so how would I feel if people tried to close it down? Umm, confused?

You seem to think that you have intelligent points to make that will shut us up and open our eyes to how silly and closeminded we're being.

What an ego you have.

I have a great idea for a theme restaurant. We can staff it entirely with black people with afro hair, and call it Fuzzywuzzies. Can't say we are oppressing black people, we love them, so much so that we'll create a whole restaurant concept around our fondness for funny looking black people. Surely only really uptight, guardianistas are going to object. Its just fun innit.

David 31 34, I would say you used a similar name because you are thick and lack imagination fond of it Smile

David, I suspect you are being deliberately contrary.

I'd agree that closing down such a business is a tad authoritarian; Hooters is only creeping over the line of decency. There's no doubt that it is over that line, though. The USP is eat BBQ pork, drink beer and oggle young women in skimpy clothes. Therefore, waitresses are reduced to a pair of boobs with nothing more on their mind than makeup and hairstyles, whilst men are reduced to lechers with nothing more on their mnd than eating, drinking and shagging. I think we should all try and rise a bit above that sort of thing.

And more importantly jenny, teach our children to aim higher as well. (not than the staff, I mean higher than the fools who attend such a place)

Absolutely Berkshirefem! I fume when I see teenage boys with Nuts/Zoo loaded magazines AND when I witness girls aspiring to appear in them. Education, education, education (as someone once said).

Haven't posted on here in a while but am sorry to hear that Brighton is going to be suffering with a Hooters soon.

The Bristol Hooters is currently under investigation for potential licence breaches including the serving of a 3D breasts cake, complete with pert nipples, at a 12 year old boy's birthday party.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1394454/Hooters-bar-Bristol-served-boy-12-boob-birthday-cake.html

Nearly 1500 people have signed a petition asking the council to review the licence.

You could try targeting the company which is leasing the premises to Hooters. Sheffield sadly lost out on a Hooters after the Ask Pizza restaurant chain decided it didn't want to be associated with Hooters. Unfortunately -and surprisingly - Marks and Spencer didn't give a stuff about being associated with Hooters in Bristol (they are leasing the building to Hooters).

Check out our blog for more info on the campaign here.

And pm me if you'd like help on objecting. I'd definitely get Caroline Lucas involved though. She must be onside surely.

Lots of students in Brighton, perhaps the student unions or affiliated societies might be running campaigns. . Worth a try maybe. On the other hand, perhaps students are applying for jobs there...

Jess! That is outrageous - Judging women in bikini's whilst children are present! Jesus. Is it any wonder boys are growing in to men with no regard for women.
