How are women pre-conceived?

"A woman is not born, but made".

How far does this go? Are we pre-conceived ideologies from being children? (i.e. pink clothing/dolls/being told fairy tales about Princesses and the like).

Is it society that pre-determines a woman's role, or is it the patriarchal values that society clings on to?

How can we fight against this?

my own experience makes me wonder how much the woman is 'made' in childhood by their mother?

i am not particularly close to my mother (though i love her dearly and she's a lovely person) and as people we have very little in common - she's very shy, introverted, quiet while i'm sociable and chatty and love to debate talk.

however, i have noticed that as i was growing up she was very tomboyish, she fished and hiked and wore cords and sweaters (this was the 70s) and even dungarees Grin.

as a teenager i despaired of her lack of make up to borrow or understanding of me wanting to spend money on clothes and make up.

but to be honest, except for ages 15-19, i haven't really been a daily makeup wearer. i do wear some lip gloss and mascara for when i'm 'dressed up' but i don't wear them everyday and i never wear foundation or base all over my face. i also only wear heels if they are very comfortable and don't stop me doing stuff (so cowboy boots are ok, but not stilletto slip-ons).

i wonder if i am a product of my mother???
