Shifting the Overton window - a game

Right, I have thought of a new game.

Let's think of discussions we could have that would move the Overton Window back to where we want it.

I'll start:

Should public figures who make a sexist comment have to resign immediately (cf racist comments) or should an apology be sufficient?

Should a national free 24 hour rape and assault helpline be set up right now, or yesterday?

Should schools treat sexist and homophobic comments with the same seriousness/sanctions that they would use for racist comments?

Which Andrea Dworkin book should go into those 'Great Books' courses they have in some American liberal arts colleges?

Should parents who abandon their children (no meaningful contact) without a valid reason (e.g. mental health problems), be subject to 6 weeks community service order and a fine? Or just the fine?

I honestly can't understand why teachers and parents put up with the homophobic stuff - it's beyond grim. No wonder that many people still find it so hard to come out even now.

Should set % child support payments be taken off wages like PAYE and NIC or should they be treated like pension payments/salary sacrifice schemes to encourage very well paid NRPs to pay more than they need to?

Is that it though LG? Many parents seem comfortable with or even encourage their kids to have "boyfriends" or "girlfriends" of the opposite sex. Not sure whether people talk about e.g. their sons having "boyfriends" etc?

You're not guilty Lenin. It's not your job to make schools teach gay-friendly materials. Why don't you think you will suggest it?

Should musicians who admit to shagging underage girls be ostracised from society, or just refused a platform at the main music festivals?

How should free sanitary protection be organised - vouchers, posted to your house, or picked up from your local GP or health centre?

Should the male contraceptive implant be introduced for 13 year old boys across the board, or given a trial first?

Should toy manufacturers make girls' dolls look like real girls or like real women?

Given women's "natural" ability to communicate, empathise and make peace, should there be an immediate quota of 75%+ women in the UN, diplomatic service, and NATO?

Or should men be restricted to purely adminstrative roles?

Should porn use come under a "don't ask, don't tell" rule in the military?
