I've just been watching some Adam Ant on youtube to pass the time, as you do Grin

And I was wondering what others would make of this video...

I have a couple of very dull and obvious observations...

Of coure, no-one really needs an excuse to watch an Adam Ant video Grin but if you did, here it is!

Ha, DH was at that L7 Reading gig as well!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 04/09/2010 23:38

You're right StayFrosty, it's so easy to be an affront to womanhood nowadays. Personally I just don't care and carry on regardless but I am notoriously bloody-minded strong-willed. Seems to be normal to have to shower/perfume/pluck/wax/straighten/tan/high-heel/manicure just to go for a walk in the park for god's sake. Poor girls.

Can I just defend the nineties!
This is what I remember:

House music and rave, which was androgynous so had nothing to do with being sexy or objectification: males and females danced in exactly the same way. IT was exhuberant and epitomized abandoment for me. You were literally a trance. Total escapism. LIke a new cult or religion, but allowed me my first true bodily expression. It was liberating, but perhaps only in the same way as alcohol is. It's only for a short time and there's a come down the next day when you realise life is just the same.

A huge respect for seventies music. MY 16 year old friends and I loved the seventies.

Basically anyone with any sense ignored pop music. At my local nighclub there was an Indie night for people who like Oasis and the like. Oasis did actually come there. There were also female-led Indie bands (Cerys), and you'd see men going on the Wednesday to see them.

So I just want to say it was a laugh

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 04/09/2010 23:41

yes, sherlock's having his night off it seems SF

I was waiting for someone to come in and say, "you feminists, you just want to feminise men, look you approve of make-up on chaps!"

thanks SF, I am supposed to be working and have to disguise the snorts of laughter as an incipient nostril disease.

Love the turn the feminism board has taken today :o
