Has anyone felt better after having their Mirena coil removed?

Has anyone considered having their Mirena coil removed due to moodiness and mood swings? I've had mine in for 3 years now to give me progesterone - I also use the estrogen patches. I love that it has stopped my periods. However I am extremely tired and grumpy a lot of the time. I hate my husband! I'm finding it so hard to separate what is going on in my life from my emotions. But I am super grumpy, snappy, irritable, not really enjoying life, and I'm starting to wonder if the Mirena coil is having a negative effect. Has anyone come off it and actually felt better?

I had a Kyleena coil fitted during my c-section 2 years ago and have just had it removed to ttc.

I’d had weird abdominal discomfort, kind of like a tugging feeling if I stretched too far or when I rolled over in bed which I attributed to the c-section and just thought I’d healed funny, but it’s completely gone now it’s out. The coil was bent when it got pulled out as well, more like a J shape than a T so somethings definitely wasn’t right.

Having it in PP masked the negative side effects for me I think as I wasn’t starting from my usual baseline. I hadn’t realised how flat my mood had been, alongside the physical effects.

When I first had the Mirena post partum I was breastfeeding. I think the oxytocin etc from BF masked the negitive effects as it was only when I stopped BF that the depression really kicked in.

It lifted very quickly once the Mirena was removed.

Apart from feeling like rubbish the Mirena was fabulous - I really liked it. It took me ages to figure out that it was causing me depression due to the BF.

There's no progesterone in the coil, it's a synthetic progestogen, they have the opposite side effect of each other, apart from keeping the uterus lining thin they are very different, progesterone reduces anxiety and balances mood, synthetic increases anxiety and lowers mood, for example.

Except I'm brilliant with the progestogen in the Mirena which is localised.

Give me body identical progesterone and I want to jump off a motorway bridge.

I just wanted to give an update as I had my Mirena removed 11 days ago.
For context, I am 41 and had the Mirena inserted last September. I had my Mirena removed as I could no longer cope with the breast pain and was concerned about the outrageous lumpy breasts I developed whilst on the Mirena. The breast pain has been there almost a year and got worse as i approached the time I would have been due a period, the Mirena stopped my periods after 6 months but I had a ghost period with really bad PMS, but no bleed. My breasts (left one in particular swelled) grew massively and I had to buy really good sports bras and sleep bras because they've been so tender.
I had the Mirena removed at 11:00am and by 3pm that day I felt better. Over the next few days the swelling in my breasts subsided and the lumps are not as prominent. They still don't feel the way they used to, but not as bad as they were.
I had a withdrawal bleed 2 days later, and I am sure I ovulated yesterday as I had some thick discharge (TMI!).
My mood has been a bit meh - I think the Mirena calmed me to a degree, and since having it removed I feel a bit ragey and angry; almost the way I felt when I had it inserted initially. Headaches and chin acne have been bad.
I know I am perimenopausal and I think the Mirena helped, as I feel a raft of Peri symptoms have reared their ugly head again!
Its so frustrating, as it worked to a degree, it stopped the periods but also caused havoc with my breasts! We can't have it all!
I have an appointment in the Breast Clinic this week to get the lumps checked out.
Myself and my GP have decided I should raw dog it until January, get my bloods and make a plan to go from there.

The Merina affected my mental health quite badly, and made me extremely anxious and tearful. I had it removed fairly promptly and was back to my usual self within a week. Never again, and I wouldn't recommend one to anybody.
