I’ve been using Better You mg oil spray for years. I use it on my legs, started using it for night cramps. I also take mg tablet before bed as well - I think it’s the mg bisglycinate (sp?) version that is better for helping sleep. Have recommended the spray to others, it works really well for restless legs apparently too. I recommended it to someone for that and they said it makes a massive difference and still uses it nightly. I get mine from Holland & Barrett, a bottle lasts for ages. I wouldn’t put it on just freshly shaved legs though 🔥😆

I've just started using Nutrition Geeks magnesium glycinate 3 in 1, and it is amazing. I took magnesium for years before this, but it didn't make a blind bit of difference. Apparently it was the wrong "type". @Itsasecretnow - love the sound of the spray.

AudiobookListener · 20/10/2025 17:39

Better You. Spray after my morning shower and 5 pumps of the lotion at night. I think the lotion works better.

TeaRoseTallulah · 20/10/2025 17:42

Yes,I use the Better You too,it's great.

Itsbeenalongoldday · 20/10/2025 18:21

Honestly, unless you have celiac disease or have a very poor diet, eg you are elderly and with various health conditions, you do NOT need magnesium. It’s a great big con.

How are you finding that specific mg? Is it for sleep? And better for sleep than the bisglycinate? I was taking the “wrong” type before that, apparently (can’t remember which one, but a basic mg), so switched to the h&b bis version and it’s ok but could definitely be better. I do believe my other ‘alf did pick me up some (plain, I think) mg glycinate the other day and I was going to try them after my other ones run out but wasn’t sure if they were the type that would help with sleep better, but maybe I should try those for a bit and then look into the 3-in-1 ones if they’re better. Thanks!

@Itsbeenalongoldday and @Itsasecretnow - it truly has made a difference to me, but then all I was taking before was supermarket magnesium so I'm unsure of the differences. I take one an hour before bed, and now mostly sleep right through the night (no more 3.00 a.m. wake ups). Not everything works for everyone, but this has been a game changer for me.

didldidi · 22/10/2025 09:44

Better You sleep spray for me too, I love it

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/10/2025 09:50

Don't put magnesium spray on your legs just after shaving them.

user927464 · 22/10/2025 09:52

I use a spray on the soles of my feet when I go to bed. I think it does help.

Totally disagree. I started magnesium about 6 months ago. For years I had suffered crippling insomnia, and could never switch off to sleep. It has definitely worked for me.

Can I ask why you are taking one tablet? The only reason being, I decided to try this brand and I have used it for 2 nights now. The first night I slept like a baby (bliss) but last night it didn't make any difference. Now - I know it will take time to build up, but the packet states 1-2 tablets. I have been taking just one, and I am wondering whether 2 are needed, or if that will have effects the following morning.

Zimunya · 22/10/2025 10:14

@Belladog1 - I started on one, and it works, so saw no need to change the dosage. If it isn't working for you, another dosage may be appropriate. I haven't tried two, so can't comment on the after effects - sorry :(

Half a banana (or a whole one) works for me.

Timeforabitofpeace · 22/10/2025 15:26

@CatsknowbestThats the health evidence anyway, but you do you.

How can it be evidence if so many people actively find and know that it works? Send me a link to a reputable study from a source such as the BMA and I might take a serious look.

Who cares if it’s the placebo effect? If people feel it helps them to sleep, is it any skin off your nose?

Must be, as evidence was in italics 🙄 It absolutely works for me.

Did you read that article? It doesn’t say actually “magnesium supplements are a waste of time”.

Sorry @Catsknowbest wasn’t trying to be sarky - clearly some people find magnesium helpful for sleep, and whatever the mechanism is, the end result is positive.

I take these and they are good for health but they don’t make me sleep. Buy melatonin online or phinergan which is for travel sickness but makes you very sleepy.

It definitely doesn't say they are a waste of time. So there wasn't much point posting the link.
Thanks @Comtesse , it does help many 👍 obviously I never said it helps in all cases, but the other poster was determined to tell any of us that disagree that its "all a big con" . Annoying.
