Hi everyone
I've been on northisterone for around a month now for a period that wouldn't stop and was extremely heavy they put me on it so I could get biopsies done which where clear I've to have a smear and discuss my blood tests on the 16th ,the Northisterone has been working great then today I woke up and passed a tiny clot and have been have a very tiny amount of brown cm when wiping
Im scared I'm going to start bleeding again before I get my smear my doctors takes ages to get appointments
Will it stop as I'm still taking the northisterone, I was hoping I would be allowed to stay on them long term as my periods are just ruining my life atm
Has anyone stayed on northisterone long term ? I've tried loads pills they all cause me have constant bleeding I'd love a womb ablation not sure if doctor will agree to do one I'm 34 with 3 children
All advice be great tia

So sorry this is happening to you. It’s horrid!

I posted about this recently - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_health/5139594-so-much-bleeding-and-pain-5-days-post-hysteroscopy-biopsy-and-coil-fitting?reply=137861043

Norethistrone isn’t recommended long term. I took it for 18 months and it’s probably what caused the endometrial thickening. I needed to take it three times a day to stop the bleeding then reduced to twice a day to maintain.

I’m having a hysterectomy in a couple of weeks. Once I knew my biopsy was clear, I was very focussed on a long term solution and made it clear that living with almost permanent bleeding was not an option for me.

At the beginning of the week, I had a hysteroscopy and biopsy due to post menopausal bleeding. Also agreed to have the mirena coil fitted to help mana...

For the last 6 years I had bleeding pretty much constantly. Would have extremely heavy periods and would be lucky to have a day or so without bleeding before the cycle would start up again. Went for all manner of tests only to be told it was probably hormonal (I have a previous diagnosis of PCOS). It made me utterly miserable so you have my fullest sympathies OP. I was given norethisterone to cause an emergency stop of the bleeding. It certainly slowed it down but it most definitely didn't stop it and that was a reason why I didn't think it was a long term solution. It also comes with other side effects which didn't suit me. What I was offered was the mirena coil as some sort of holy grail answer to my prayers. I never agreed to this as I ultimately wanted to get pregnant but I've read very good things about it on here. Is this an option? Other than that I never really found a solution despite trying to research it extensively. I hope you find a solution OP

I had a novasure ablation once I'd been referred to gynaecologist and it was life changing for me
Ask to be referred

Do you want any more children?

If not have you talked about trying Mirena? It stops periods in time.

Or an ablation?
