Heat / boob rash not clearing

mum344 · 02/10/2023 09:25

When it was super hot a few weeks ago, I develop a small heat rash under my breasts. Fast forward 3 weeks; and the rash is now huge, under both breasts, down the middle and starting to spread down the body a bit! It's so dry and sore.

Doctor prescribed daktacort but it doesn't seem to be doing much. Has anybody had this and what cleared it?

I'm also pregnant, so I'm not sure if this is what's making it worse. It's getting huge!

Cannisten cream or own brand I can't remember the generic name but that with some sudocream on top and wear a crop/vest top til it heals.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 02/10/2023 09:51

Regular application of sudocrem seems to work for me.

Oblomov23 · 02/10/2023 09:59

You need canesten cream because it's a yeast infection. Instant relief, put it on before bed, often clears up overnight.

Brefugee · 02/10/2023 10:33

I use Sudafed. It's great

Brefugee · 02/10/2023 11:47

Sudocream. Sudafed would probably burn!

Soontobe60 · 02/10/2023 11:51

I use an anti fungal cream Boots own brand. Get a big tube, wash well under the breasts 2x a day, make sure they’re very dry underneath (I use a hairdryer on warm) then apply the cream. Wear a clean bra every day, making sure it doesn’t trap breast tissue against the rib cage, which happens if it’s too small.

Bergamotte · 02/10/2023 11:55

The active ingredient in Canesten is clotrimazole.
Gently washing, then thoroughly but gently patting dry, the area twice a day (before putting on the cream) is important too.

I only got mine to properly clear up by wearing a piece of clean, folded cotton cloth in my bra so there wasn't sweaty skin touching.

Cantonet · 02/10/2023 11:55

I had this a few years ago.
It was so sore & itchy.
I needed antibiotics & hydrocortisone cream. No other creams helped at all.
Also drying the area thoroughly after a shower with a hairdryer on low helped.
And 'airing' your chest as much as possible during the day & at nighttime.

Cantonet · 02/10/2023 11:57

Plus washing well made it even more sore! If you're going to wash use something very gentle like Dermol or Aveeno.

Redannie118 · 02/10/2023 12:02

Use soap free cleanser to wash with. Someone on MN recommended it a while ago and its a total game changer. Afterwards, as others have said, thoroughly dry and use canestan cream.

Soberfutures · 02/10/2023 12:18

Clotrimazole cream or lamisil. Tho if you are pregnant have you had recent bloods done? Urticaria rashes can have underlying causes when pregnant.

WowOK · 02/10/2023 12:35

Canesten. Make sure it's dry after a shower.

mum344 · 02/10/2023 12:44

Thanks all. I ended up seeing the doctor this morning as it's got pretty bad. I've been prescribed antibiotics and given steroid cream.

Mrsjayy · 02/10/2023 12:56

Oh dear least you have been seen hopefully it clears up quickly.

Olika · 02/10/2023 13:42

After the course of medication you have now I would use Linola lotion as it really helped me with the same issue. I was breastfeeding at the time and mine got really bad so after the steroid cream I continued with Linola.

I suffer from this and went to see dr who advised I bought an anti dandruff shampoo called Nizoral, cheaper to buy than prescription , used for a week and disappeared, I always keep a bottle as in summer when hot tends to flare up

Nizoral contains an anti-fungal, so will work in a similar way to Canestan.
But obviously something more has been called for in this case.

mum344 · 02/10/2023 14:00

Thanks all. I needed something a little stronger than caneston as we had tried that before.

@Olika ooo I've not heard of this before, I will check it out!

This is potentially not being helped by growing pregnancy boobs. A cotton sleep bra might help

Soberfutures · 02/10/2023 14:11

Glad u been seen. What did they prescribe you in the end?

mum344 · 02/10/2023 14:14

@starfishmummy no I don't think it is. I have large breasts anyway and now they've gone massive 😂 and sweating way more than usual.

@Soberfutures I was prescribed Timodine cream as well as flucloxacillian. Was a bit reluctant while being pregnant but GP said she thinks it's necessary. X

I use the Asda little angels liquid talc every day. Has really helped to reduce my rash and keep it under v
control

Soberfutures · 02/10/2023 14:33

That should help. Hope you feel better soon.

Raquelos · 02/10/2023 14:33

Sympathies OP, I have had this, it's bloody awful and hard to get rid of and then keep away. Once you have it sorted with your weapons-grade cream from the doctor, I found that using a medicated talc in the underboob area at night stopped it from recurring. Best of luck.

Where do you get the medicated talc from?
