I've had an internal and external burn down below for about a week, no STI's but I do have lichen sclerosus however only experienced an itch with this, I am so sore down below even sitting down is uncomfortable, took a thrush pessary last night incase it's that but I don't feel any better today. Making me miserable it feels on fire, what could be causing this :(

A thrush pessary can take a few days to work (from bitter recent experience and conversations with GP and pharmacist). If you haven't already tried Canestan cream, suggest you apply that too as that should help.

Give it a couple more days. If really no improvement, speak to your GP.

danni0509 · 17/12/2022 17:05

I had this with thrush. Took 2 days for one of those pessarys to work, I used canesten and Sudocreme too.

I had it again even worse, and needed a pessary AND an oral tablet to treat that one.

Crackedmosaic · 17/12/2022 17:09

Could be aerobic vaginitis?

If it’s no better by Monday phone the dr, hopefully your pessary will kick in, can you get some canesten cream on in the meantime?

Yeah I have the external cream here, I'm also currently on holiday until new year so it's so frustrating😩

I have LS too and this can be quite common for me when using products. Do you avoid bubble bath, shower gel, flavoured lube etc?

Someone told me one that aqueaus cream was a great emolient with no additives - i used it and i swear to god it was like the fires of hell were unleashed on my fanny.

LS is a horrible condition and so unpredictable. Have you taken a mirror and had a look if you have any current white patches? Xx

Mumma · 17/12/2022 18:03

Also, are you on holiday somewhere warm? Bathing suit? That's a huge LS trigger for me. Make sure you keep dry and change bathers in between pool sessions. Inconvenient but helps! I have 2 pairs of black bikini bottoms so no one can tell.

And... germolene! Its a local anesthetic so it nunbs the area a bit. I find that can help xx

Yes I do, I'm covered in white patches, however I have always had them since being diagnosed 8 years ago, I also have a few cuts and looks really sore :(

I'm not currently anywhere warm, I wish! I'm just visiting family in another city

Get the tablet as well. Flucanozole I believe it is. If it is thrush eat as much natural yogurt as you can.

danni0509 · 17/12/2022 18:38

It was flucanozole I used, £5 from Amazon

OP I have this. It started a few years ago and it comes and goes to this day.

You don't mention your age but my soreness was related to the menopause. My GP was brilliant. I was given Replens vaginal moisturiser. I was so ready to dismiss that Replens. I could not believe that a water-based lubricant would make any difference - but it did, and it is now my go-to treatment for this condition.

You can buy it at the chemist's. Use it every morning for a week. If you are menopausal (or perimenopausal) you may also benefit from HRT.

A combination of HRT and Replens saved my sanity. Can I also suggest that you make an ice pack and sit on it for a few hours. You can fashion one out of the finger of a rubber glove. Stick it in your pants with a sanitary towel (to soak up the melting water).

I hope things clear up for you soon.

I'm 27, not sure it would be that just yet

I’ve had thrush that sounds exactly like this. You need the cream for the external bit and a combo of all the things if it’s particularly frisky.

Sympathies, OP. Hang in there!

Okay, but Replens is for any woman who has soreness - it isn't just for women whoa re menopausal.

I still recommend using an ice pack as well.

Guineapiggiesmalls · 17/12/2022 18:59

Sounds like thrush, you can buy fluconazole in a pharmacy and I’d try some canestan cream. If it’s agony I’d really layer it on and then go to bed with no knickers on. Hope you’re feeling better, thrush is so grim

DameWashalot82 · 17/12/2022 19:07

I have LS and have occasionally had a bad flare up of general soreness that doesn't seem to be attributed to just LS or just thrush but a combination of both, I think one triggers the other to be honest. I think the worst bout was when particularly run down after an illness and stressed too. It was awful and seemed much worse than a general LS or thrush flare up.
Doc prescribed a cream that was a combination of both an anti fungal with a steroid, different to the dermovate I use for LS. I remember I had to keep the cream in fridge due to the Ingredients but it totally solved the issue. Hopefully your doc can prescribe something it's just horrible you have my sympathies

Thank you, woke up this morning and it's like a ring of fire, definitely doesn't seem to be subsiding :(

Could you be diabetic?

I got this as a symptom, apparently it's quite common in women. Your local pharmacy can probably do a blood glucose test but you will need an A1C blood test from your GP.
