Pelvic pain

theluckiest · 15/10/2022 16:32

Before I explain my symptoms on here, I am definitely going to the doctors asap as I know posting won't give me diagnosis or anything!! Having Googled (I know, I know), there's nothing that fits my symptoms.

I have developed quite severe pain very low down in my pelvis. Def not stomach pain. Just feels like there's something in there.

Pain seems to be deep inside - where my womb would be I guess. Also have lower back pain. Sometimes more at the front, sometimes back.

It's a constant dull heavy ache, but occasionally very sharp. No other symptoms.

No bleeding, normal periods. I have a Mirena.

The thing that worries me is that it's worse if I need a poo (sorry!). Could something be pressing on my bladder / bowel?!!

I'm very worried. What on earth could it be??

Also, I don't want the dr to fob me off with 'it's IBS' or 'period pain' as it's not either of those things. Pain is def different

How long has this been going on? I know when I have a UTI that I don't necessarily get pain when I pass urine. I get severe pain in my lower stomach( pelvic area) and a pressure in my lower back. Could also be something to do with your coil ? Maybe it's not in quite right or has dislodged ?

theluckiest · 15/10/2022 17:03

I've had the odd pelvic twinge for years but this is only the last few weeks.

Can still feel my coil (again, TMI...sorry) so don't think it's that.

Might be a UTI. I'm most worried about the fact that it hurts most when I need to poo. Sad

Is it constant or cyclical ?

theluckiest · 15/10/2022 17:32

Pretty constant at the moment

I occasionally get a deep pain where I reckon my left ovary is. I haven't tracked it but did wonder whether it was when I ovulate

I used to get a deep pain, but I worked out that it was my cervix moving up and down around my period, so it wasn’t constant.

Capricornandproud · 15/10/2022 22:02

I could have written this… I’m awaiting my smear test results but convinced ‘something’ going on. Mine can get very sharp during when my app is telling me I’m ovulating but it is considerably worse when I’m backed up! I am holding on to the hope that it could be linked to endometriosis?

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 15/10/2022 22:07

Could be an ovarian cyst. Most likely nothing serious and I hope that the Dr is able to reassure you of that, but you are doing the right thing getting checked out....

Puggie · 16/10/2022 18:48

I also could've wrote this myself! I'm awaiting a scan so will update when I've had that.

Primrose413 · 16/10/2022 19:12

I could have also written this post! I’ve had all sorts of blood tests/scans but they’ve not found anything so I’m at a loss to what it is! I went back to the doctor again but she said other than repeat them which I don’t think we need to do I’ve not got any other ideas so not sure what to do from here!

fanlight79 · 16/10/2022 19:13

Your pain sounds exactly like mine and I have endometriosis which has caused adhesions between my pelvic organs including on my bowel and an ovarian cyst. MRI scan diagnosed this initially and I've had minor surgery that's successfully resolved the pain. It's a notoriously under diagnosed condition with really variable symptoms. Worth suggesting as a possibility if the doctor doesn't.

Orangio · 16/10/2022 19:14

Cyst or fibroid?

Fadeout83 · 21/10/2022 07:47

Joining the club here. Sudden onset pelvic pain that comes and goes throughout my cycle now. I’ve had MRI and TVUS which showed some cysts and possible adenomyosis and c section scar defect.

Id definitely recommend some investigations. Sudden pelvic pain isn’t totally normal and it’s worth looking into

XCBXx · 22/10/2022 23:33

Hi, this sounds very similar to what I have been experiencing for the last 8 months. I’ve had all sorts of tests and all come back negative, yet the pain is still pretty constant. Initially I was told they thought it was IBS, which I’m convinced it’s not. It’s like a dull ache in my pelvis and then moves to my lower back

XCBXx · 22/10/2022 23:34

I’ve also had 2 c sections so wondering if it is something related to those, currently non the wiser though

Are your periods normal? I only ask because I’ve had pelvic pain on and off too, and after investigations it was discovered I have something called “cesarean scar defect”. It’s quite common and one telltale sign is spotting AFTER a period. Almost like a little break from your period of a couple of days and then it comes back again for a day or so.

thought it’s worth a mention since you mentioned CS

Thank you for replying! They are relatively normal, I’m still breastfeeding so they have been quite long but seem to be getting back to normal now. Although now you have said that, I thought my last period ended after 4 days, on the 5th day there was nothing, and then day 6 of my cycle there was some spotting but then nothing from day 7 onwards. Can I ask what investigations you had? X

I had a transvaginal ultrasound and an MRI. the MRI confirmed it. I had no problems with my periods after my first cs, but after my second, when my period came back, it went from the usually heavy and weird that first periods back tend to be and then suddenly very short - 2/3 days of normal bleeding, then nothing for a day or two, then another day of bleeding. Every cycle. Apparently the defect is a little shelf on your scar where the blood pools and is ejected days later (mine is usually trigger by exercise, lots of jumping etc).

I thought I was going nuts and worried myself sick but turns out it’s common though as with most women’s health issues, under researched. It can cause secondary infertility, which was thankfully never an issue for me because we stopped at two but it’s commonly found because of fertility issues post CS.

Fadeout83 · 23/10/2022 00:35

You could also have something as simple as ovarian cysts. Also common after babies and those little f*ems can cause a fair bit of pelvic pain.

Ah, was it picked up on the ultrasound and then confirmed with MRI?

I’ve had an transvaginal ultrasound and everything came back normal, no cysts, fibroids and she said no endometriosis. No such luck on getting an MRI. Luckily my periods have been relatively normal once they’ve arrived aside from last month with the day gap. It is funny though that I had none of this pain until about 10 months postpartum and after my periods had returned.

I have been referred to gynaecology but to be honest she wasn’t very helpful, she didn’t even examine me. She just said that she could do a laparoscopy to investigate but she’s 90% sure she’ll find nothing. She also told me there was a long wait and this was back in august, I’ve heard nothing since. My doctors just want to diagnose me with IBS, but I’ve also been checked for all that and all good on that front.

Like you I genuinely think I’m going mad and it’s been going on so long I can’t help but think the worst. Thank you so much for all the info! X

No problem and I hope you find some answers soon. I find women’s issues get fobbed off as IBS so often :(

TTC2021x · 26/08/2023 18:45

I know this is an older thread but did you ever get any answers from this? Currently experiencing similar myself

Retta1809 · 15/12/2023 09:17

I'm suffering similar myself and have been for nearly 2 years. More right sided pain (feels like something is being squashed) worse at some points but never actually went away and now lower back and lower pelvic pain. Not sure if this is related or muscular.

Hananananananah · 21/08/2024 13:13

Has anyone on here got answers im the same. Started in third trimeter and my little one is now 20months. Its effecting my mental health so much having unexplained pain. Ultrasound and ct scan clear and drs just seems to not know. Hoping someone on here got to the bottom if it xx

Retta1809 · 03/09/2024 21:53

@Hananananananah I had an ultrasound, ct scan, stool sample, blood & urine samples & physio for 3 months. All tests came back clear & physio didn't help. I then went for a sports massage in February this year, explained where I had pain, she did an assessment of me, watch me walk etc then started with my legs, I had one leg longer than the other!!! She was very thorough and believe it or not I've not had the pain since!! Maybe all coming from my right hip/leg, who knows.
