What do you think to using baby wipes ?

Iv seen a few debates about woman using baby wipes for their vagina . Wondered what other woman's opinions are ?

So basically , I use baby wipes to clean down their after a wee . As I thought much cleaner , but iv seen some posts , that we shouldn't use any products to clean other then water , toilet roll . As it can mess our natural ph balance or something ? I would of thought if we can use baby wipes on baby's it would be fine , but I'm wondering if it's messing my balance up !

I do have white discharge sorry if tmi ( no strong smell or colour , just normal ) so wondered if that's the cause , ( I know discharge is perfectly normal ) Also seen dont put bubbles / products in your bath as that can mess it up too !?

Personally I stick with toilet roll - much cheaper! Though I keep a pack of baby wipes in the ensuite for use after certain activities (toilet roll doesn't seem to cut it)

Veryverycalmnow · 18/05/2022 19:48

Everyone is different but I'd be more concerned about the environment if you're using a baby wipe every time you have a wee!

Discovereads · 18/05/2022 19:50

Completely unnecessary and very bad for the environment.

legalseagull · 18/05/2022 19:52

I sometimes use the wet flushable toilet tissues by Andrex. Never wipes. Awful for the environment

TheFutureIs · 18/05/2022 19:53

If you want to use something other than loo roll you could investigate reusable wipes. Some people have a stack, and wet them before wiping. Then have a lidded box to store used ones before washing

legalseagull · 18/05/2022 19:53

The wet toilet tissues are also much cheaper than wet wipes.

Personally I think they're pretty essential after a poo! Dry wiping is pretty gross when you think about it

Sleepyquest · 18/05/2022 19:55

You should switch to toddler botty wipes, same price but can flush them! I use them if I feel a bit sweaty or what not. But not for wees

woodhill · 18/05/2022 19:55

Yes the environmental issues are more important

Perfect28 · 18/05/2022 19:55

Legalseagul none of those products should be flushed regardless of the word 'flushable' used in marketing. Op I doubt this is actually massively harmful as you say but there really is no point. What do you do when you go out? Did your parents teach you to do this?

CandyApplePie · 18/05/2022 19:56

I thought you weren’t meant to flush any wipes even the ones that claim you can?

Flippermeflopits · 18/05/2022 20:03

Get a bidet fitting for your toilet. Easy to fit & much cheaper in the long run than wipes.

Anotherdayanotherdisappointment · 18/05/2022 20:08

Reusable wipe that you wet, use and wash? They're brilliant! Feel soooo much cleaner than TP.

Disposable wipes? Wasteful, irresponsible, expensive and yes ph could be an issue.

tattychicken · 18/05/2022 20:09

Don't flush any of those wipes, they're a nightmare and cause so many drain blockages. Only ever flush toilet roll.

Friedaseyebrow · 18/05/2022 20:12

Try Wype, it's a gel that you put onto loo paper and then wipe. Really gentle, freshens you up and is not a disaster ordered to the environment. Can order direct or I think, from Amazon.

Most things can be flushed. It doesn't mean you should. No wipes down the pan man!

gamerchick · 18/05/2022 20:18

I can't believe that it still has to be said FFS. Pee, poop, puke and toilet paper. NOTHING ELSE.

Personally these manufacturers who say their wipes can be flushed should face massive fines imo

AnuSTart · 19/05/2022 05:58

I'm too going to rage firstly about the idea that any of these wipes are flushable!!!!

None are flushable!!! None!! Never effin flush.

breathe

OP don't use wipes. Your discharge is normal and healthy. If it helps your peace of mind, get a bidet, or use a jug of water from the top and pour on yourself then dry.
No wipes!!!

Jemdaruna · 19/05/2022 07:08

Reusable wipes which are like a mini flannel. Available from anywhere that does reusable nappies etc. Super soft and easy to carry a few damp ones in a ziplock bag for when you are out and about. Far better for your body and the environment.

JinglingHellsBells · 19/05/2022 13:16

I think it's worrying that you feel unclean after weeing. Using anything with added 'stuff' like perfume risks making you sore.

Shower in the morning and evening ought to be enough, or use wet wipes after poo-ing, but not on your front bottom :)

heldinadream · 19/05/2022 13:28

Flannel. Ancient invention functions exactly like a very long lasting re-usable wipe, can be washed and wrung out after use. Marvellous thing. Saves a fortune on wipes and does virtually no harm to the environment.

Abouttimemum · 19/05/2022 13:33

PLEASE don’t put anything other than toilet paper, pee and poo down the toilet.

even if it says it’s flushable it’s not.
it’s causing all sorts of havoc to our ancient drainage systems and the environment.

tealandteal · 19/05/2022 13:38

Have you ever wiped a baby wipe over your face or eyes? It makes the skin very stingy! Also very bad for the environment, I don’t use them for my baby unless caught out, I have some water wipes if needed. None of these products should be flushed though.

Perhaps you should investigate a bidet?

KirstenBlest · 19/05/2022 13:39

Don't flush 'flushable' wipes.

Use the least amount of bog roll you need to do the job properly.

Flushing lots of bog roll results in blocked drains.

Flushing wipes , cotton buds, nappies, tampons, hair, floss etc leads to fatbergs.

KirstenBlest · 19/05/2022 13:41

As for baby wipes, I used one for something and it took off my nail varnish. Would not use them on my vulva or anus.
