Internal buzzing/vibrating

Hi everyone. I wondered if anyone else experiences these funny feelings. Over the last week I have occasionally felt my body vibrating at night. On and off. Seems to mainly be my top half. Very odd. Wondered if anyone else gets this?

I have a buzzing if I touch an old laparoscopy scar and apply a small amount of pressure. Mines an actual feeling though, that I (and the consultant ) have felt. I can't feel it if I'm not touching it. Yours sounds different though; can you describe it more?

I had an early peri menopause and this internal buzzing was the start of it now looking back. I know exactly what you are describing!

Fizzbo · 23/12/2021 08:52

I’m menopausal and get this if I reduce or withdraw my HRT. I wake up suddenly, my heart races and I feel like I’m vibrating all over. It’s not like a panic attack, it’s weird.

Hi everyone! I forgot to mention I'm in my very early 40s. It's hard to describe but it's feels a bit like a phone gently vibrating in the part of my body. I can't see anything trembling but I feel it inside.

I'm not a massive drinker but about a week ago I had a few glasses of prosecco which lead to the buzzing/vibrating allover along with a racing heart which lasted a couple of hours. Very scary! Not drinking prosecco again! But since then I've just noticed it occasionally on and off in the night and not as severe.

ParisNext how often do you get it? Has it stopped?

Thanks for the replies so far everyone!

Hi! Just bumping to see if anyone else happens to relate? Xx

I’ve started to get something like this when I’m lying in bed, at night especially. Except for me it feels like a large lorry has driven past the house or how the house can ‘move’ on the fast spin of a washing machine. And it happens shoulders up on me. Does that sound similar?

LadyCampanulaTottington · 23/12/2021 17:36

When I am really anxious I get this. It’s a known phenomenon that accompanies feelings of stress or anxiety. It could be triggered by alcohol.

Kite22 · 23/12/2021 17:50

I've had this - exactly like a phone vibrating in your pocket, but it is under the skin.

LeftieLucy · 23/12/2021 17:51

I get it in my pelvis, and occasionally in my left shoulder blade. I’m 40 and pretty sure I’m peri menopausal

Aurea · 23/12/2021 17:52

I have the same phone vibration feeling from time to time always in my left foot. Late 40s as well.

Jackieweaverishere · 23/12/2021 17:53

I've had this recently, very odd. It's on my leg, as if there's a phone in my pocket.

elizabethdraper · 23/12/2021 17:54

Yes I get this in my pelvis. Apparently its a nerve

Gey worse when I am tired

Iusedtobeasister · 23/12/2021 17:55

I have this in my abdomen. I’m 6 years post total hysterectomy and not on HRT

GameofPhones · 23/12/2021 18:00

Yes I get this occasionally - like a mobile phone vibrating describes it exactly. I am allergic to sulphides in some wines, hadn't related it to this but will keep note in future.

Dithery · 23/12/2021 18:04

Do they happen at night? That's when I have noticed mine. So far it's been all over (after prosecco - never again! ) but the other times have been across my back and arms or down one arm. Very irritating and have to wait for it to pass.

I've not heard of it connected to stress. Obviously doctor Google suggests lots

Was just about to mention this. I told Dh it felt like my entire body was fizzing.
Dithery · 23/12/2021 18:05

Sorry!! Pressed send too early!! Grin Dr Google suggests lots of bad stuff....

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 23/12/2021 18:18

Yes, I get this, especially if I have almost dropped off and then not quite fallen asleep. Had no idea it was a peri symptom, although am 45 so that makes sense.

Fizzbo · 23/12/2021 18:24

I’m relieved to find that it’s not just me!

Dithery · 23/12/2021 18:34

I've always had the occassional twitching/shakes just before I fall asleep but this is different. The vibrating might wake me up and it will stay for a while even if I change positions or it will come on when I am resting but not doing off.

Just seen this :-

Livelifeinthebuslane · 23/12/2021 19:58

Yeah I get it, possibly came on with peri. Lots of people with benign fascination syndrome get it along with all the twitches.

Kite22 · 23/12/2021 21:39

Thanks for that link @Aurea (and OP for starting the thread).

Mine isn't a night time thing, nor an 'after alcohol' thing. In fact I've never seen a pattern. Nor does it last long.
I've been through most of the menopause - hoping I'm at the tail end anyway, so not linked to peri-menopause for me, I don't remember getting it 10 years ago.

Namaste6 · 29/12/2021 06:58

Hi @Dithery - this does sound very similar to what I experienced all through my 40s. Another poster mentioned benign fascination syndrome which is most certainly a peri symptom. I experienced that frequently. It felt like a phone buzzing and also quick, short electric type zaps. Internal tremors too. Haven't had any since starting HRT in my mid to late 40s.
