Late period after covid vaccine

Has anyone else found that the COVID vaccine has messed with their menstrual cycle? I’m now 9 days late! And no I’m not pregnant.
My friend said she was a week late after her jab. Literally no sign of AF here though.

Yes I was 5 days late with the 1st Pfizer jab. Had second one a few days ago so will be interesting to see what happens....

Twickerhun · 18/07/2021 10:31

I last had my period in May, had my jab whist I was on my period and haven’t had one since Im 3 or more weeks late and also not pregnant.

bleachblondemom · 18/07/2021 10:33

@Twickerhun I’ve read online that some people completely missed their period so if you’re 3 weeks late you might find you just go straight into your next cycle!

Yes! I’m now 2 weeks late. I had the 2nd jab and I’m almost certain it delayed my ovulation by 2 weeks. I’m on CD42 now

Onynx · 18/07/2021 10:34

I had my first vaccine on day 3 of mine & it it stopped completely dead- still had all the cramps etc.

Lanique · 18/07/2021 11:12

Yes I've had two periods come ten days after the previous since having my AZ jabs, the first of which was in April.

bleachblondemom · 18/07/2021 11:43

And yet none of this is listed as ‘possible side effects’!

4 days late and very painful, but this was the second period after the vaccine, the first one was fine.

ThatsNicePet · 18/07/2021 11:50

Mine was a week early! Early, but long and meandering - kept thinking it was finished then it would start again. I have a mirena coil but still get regular periods. The following period was 28 days after the ‘early’ one and very light, which was nice.

I had my second the other day so we’ll see what happens for the next one.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 18/07/2021 11:50

Yes I did, I reported it

Toottootdrivers · 18/07/2021 11:51

Yes I had a 42 day cycle. But then fell pregnant on the cycle after that, so it didn't seem to have any long term effects. Not for me anyway.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 18/07/2021 11:52

My periods have changed too. I am not complaining though. I have had all of my children and am wanting a hysterectomy. But I used to bleed 21 days of the month due to adenomyosis. I would have a 3 day break before bleeding again. Well since I have had my Pfizer jab I have had a monthly cycle. My first period after was so painful, the most pain I have ever had...that is saying something as my periods stopped me working for a long time. I now am on my second period and I have had no pain whatsoever. This is amazing!
I understand though it is and can be worrying for the majority of women. I have 3 daughters, eldest is 13. I was worried about letting her have vaccine if she was offered it. But after research, I have learned that periods are run my the immune system. So I understand why women's periods are changing. I doubt the actual reproduction system is effected. I am not a scientist though.

This. Immune system, hormones and reproductive cycle are more closely linked than you’d think.

Apparently it isn’t unusual after any vaccine to get period changes. Most of us are vaccinated as kids though so have only noticed this effect with covid.

FlatterNow · 18/07/2021 11:57

Yep, I skipped one, and also reported it.

I was really surprised by how close. I didn't know that through ovulation your immune system weakens to allow sperm to do their thing without the immune system killing them.

So I completely understand why menstrual cycles have changed. My logic (possible wrong) is that once u have the jabe, immune system has to do its work to accept and process it. So your body delays ovulation. Then system weakens to allow ovulation once immune system has done its job on vaccine. Meaning if your period is late, it can't be a bad thing covid vaccine wise

tealappeal · 18/07/2021 12:09

After being regular as clockwork, mine was 10 days late and although I was planning to have a lovely period-free holiday, it now looks like I'll be on for most of it Sad

bleachblondemom · 18/07/2021 12:21

Oh yeah I’m not worried as such, I highly doubt there’s any long term affects (hopefully as I want to TTC again in a few months!) and I understand more now why there’s a link, I just wanted an idea of how common this actually has been. I’m sure there’s other people experiencing this who might be worried and maybe don’t have anyone they feel comfortable asking about it. I think it should be added to the list of side effects- as far as I’m aware its currently not?

bleachblondemom · 18/07/2021 12:22

@Idroppedthescrewinthetuna that’s interesting, and yes I suppose that’s a good point that if your cycle has been affected, your immune system is working

No periods here either - have now skipped two since second jab.
Still had Mittelschmerz (pains) though.
Problem is, I am of menopausal age so am not sure whether it is the menopause or a side effect.

supadupapupascupa · 18/07/2021 16:22

I was fine after the first, but missed one after the second. The period that finally arrived was very light and long! Hoping back to normal next time. Actually thought it was menopause but now thinking it was the vaccine

chocolatesweets · 18/07/2021 16:24

3 days late.

Genehuntsfanclub · 19/07/2021 15:33

I was also fine after the first jab but I'm now 12 days late with no obvious PMS symptoms. At 46 and now 8 years into the perimenopause I'm actually hoping that this could be it and I don't have anymore. Sods law it will just be late though.🤔

littlemissminor · 19/07/2021 15:34

I had my second jab in March, and have just finished my first period since having it!

Dollywilde · 19/07/2021 15:37

I came on a week early after my first Pfizer. Couldn’t understand it as most seem to report being late, but actually if the logic is that it delays ovulation then that doesn’t apply to me as I’d already ovulated that month. Next period after that came as normal with no issues/difference from my pre-jab periods. Interested to see what happens with my next jab and period - I’m booked for jab 2 again post ovulation but pre period.

Noshowlomo · 19/07/2021 15:40

Currently 15 days late, deffo not pregnant and dreading it being extra heavy when it comes
