Cerazette

I've been out on the cerazette mini pill for contraception due to breastfeeding it's one of the only ones I can have.
I've been on it for one month and already the period cramps were less severe.
I'm a bit grumpier but aware of it so fighting it.
Six days ago I started a period/ breakthrough bleeding. It's not too bad but it's not really slowing down. I'm a bit anxious that it's going to just keep going, does anyone on this have any experience like this?
I know periods can obviously be a week so a bit early to worry but I just don't feel it's going to stop. Is it a common problem with cerazette?

My periods were fine, but it brought me out in cystic acne after a couple of months. Had to change it.

WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot1 · 27/01/2021 16:21

I actually found on cerazette that my periods went right down, maybe once or twice a year maximum. It was heaven. I then got the implant which was fantastic... at first.

If I go back to contraception ever, it will be cerazette. Give it a little time but hopefully you will find the same

Thank you, I've spoken to a nurse since making this post and been prescribed some extra tablets to try and calm it down. Fingers crossed

I had to stop taking cerazette as I was having a 19 days on, 6 day off cycle. After several months it didn’t change. I think as with anything it doesn’t suit some people.

Selkiesarereal · 27/01/2021 19:48

Best thing ever, I was having nightmare periods, complete agony and really affecting my life. Now all gone!

wizzywig · 27/01/2021 19:50

It was about 3 months in that any breakthrough bleeding stopped for me

Mummybunny70 · 21/03/2021 19:52

Cerazette prolonged bleeding

I've been taking it for 2 months and having just checked my calendar I've had 17 days when I was not bleeding!
I'm 51 and after a recent divorce have a new partner. I was trying to be careful although I think it's very unlikely at my age I will get pregnant.
Well thanks to Cerazette there is NO sex. It's a joke ! The last few days I've been bleeding so heavily (changing a super tampon every 2 hours) . I'm sick of "leaking" at night, I'm constantly messing the bed!!!! I feel like just stopping taking it !!! I'm also concerned about how much blood I'm losing !
Is there another mini pill that doesn't make you bleed constantly ??

I agree! I personally found this pill brilliant.
DaisyWaldron · 21/03/2021 20:37

I didn't get that far because I started having suicidal thoughts after the first couple of weeks.

fedup078 · 21/03/2021 21:49

I bled for months on this and gave up on it in the end. The first few times I was on it i persevered and eventually the bleeding stops and only had period maybe once every 3 months but I just didn't have the patience this time round

Mummybunny70 · 21/03/2021 22:55

Wow I'm sorry to hear it affected you so much. Glad you stopped taking it x

Mummybunny70 · 21/03/2021 22:56

I'm so fed up bleeding, what did you use instead? X

fedup078 · 22/03/2021 06:00

@Mummybunny70 condoms were my only other option left

I've been on Cerazette just over 1 month to try and stop heavy periods. I'm now on day 14 of a heavy, flooding period so it's not working yet. My gynae consultant said after 2 months if it still doesn't work I can double up but I'm worried about side effects / risks. Has anyone else taken 2 Cerazette a day?

Mummybunny70 · 10/04/2021 16:01

They told you to take 2 pills per day?,wow. My periods were fine before (slightlyirregular) . I'm 51 so they took me off of the combined pill and put me on Cerazette . It's been a nightmare, I just bleed sporadically and really heavily. January 12 days, February 14 days, March 23 days this month I've had 4 days so far no bleeding. I'm awaiting a gyna appointment, I can not live like this !

There are other mini pills you could try.
Cerazette has desogestrel as the active ingredient but other mini pills have other hormones instead. They will be mini pills with a 3 hour window rather than the 12 hours you get with Cerazette.

I was lucky with it as it stopped my periods

Bagelsandbrie · 10/04/2021 16:14

I loved Cezarette. After 3 months I had no periods at all. For years. Only stopped taking it as went through the menopause!

Yes I will, its just so frustrating when it clearly works for other women and their periods have stopped. I'd be happy with normal periods as I can't leave the house in case it floods out (which no amount of protection can stop leaking). I think I'll opt for a different pill if after 3 months it's not working as I'm not happy to take 2 a day.
Mummybunny70 · 10/04/2021 17:08

I was told it would stop my periods but it has made them 100 times worse.im a bit baffled if you were taking the pill how did you know you'd gone through the menopause?

Mummybunny70 · 10/04/2021 17:10

I do feel for you ... I have to wear a whit uniform at work. I have been taking toilets breaks every hour to change my super ultra tampax,I'm petrified of an accident. Tbh after an hour they are full! It's so depressing.

Mummybunny70 · 10/04/2021 17:12

Im so glad it worked out for you x how long was it b4 your period stopped?

gracefull · 10/04/2021 17:13

Bled for a month straight then no periods at all. Made me really angry and then depressed/anxious. Not for me x

Pashazade · 10/04/2021 17:15

Sorry to derail but @Bagelsandbrie how did you tell when the menopause started I've been on Cerazette for 9 years now and turn 45 this year so figure things may start happening menopause wise before too long, but I've not had a period in 9 years so how did you tell??

Bagelsandbrie · 10/04/2021 17:51

I actually had to come off of it for 6 weeks and then my endocrinologist did some blood tests. I have a lot of autoimmune conditions including a pituitary tumour and lupus so they wanted to see if I had actually gone through the menopause and I had...!
Bagelsandbrie · 10/04/2021 17:51

I should add I’m only 40 - early menopause due to my issues.
