Gynecological Ultrasound Scan Results

Hey everyone,

I started with extreme pain, during my periods, over 2 years ago. Before this, I had a severe mental breakdown (unrelated - though both could be related to too much esteogen?!?!).

Anyway, I went for a smear, a few months ago and a polyp was found. My Gyn remove this and requested a transvaginal scan ( the wand) and an ultrasound because of the position of the polyp and because of the pain. Prior to all of this, about 5/6 years ago, I did have a missed miscarriage...anyway, today I have been for my appointment, and this is what they said...

They're sending me for a hysteroscopy because, as well as the polyp, there is what they believe to be a 23mm fibroid, I have an ubnormal vascular system, lesions and abnormal cysts.

Above is what I remember - has anyone had any of the above and can put my mind at rest?

The smear came back normal...and so did the polyp biopsy, but it seems like there is a lot going on down there - and I am only 35!

Hi UniquelyPerfect,

We're really sorry to hear what you're coping with at the moment.

Sadly we've not got any pearls of useful wisdom to share but we wanted to bump the thread for you. We're sure some other users will be along soon with some advice and support but do seek real life medical advice too.

I had a fibroid and had painful periods which I thought were 'normal', it was only discovered during fertility investigations. I had it removed under general anesthesia and periods are a lot less painful now. I can absolutely recommend getting it removed.

Thank you FlissMumsNet - I really appreciate it :) I am awaiting a hysteroscopy- but the waiting is frustrating so wondered whether anyone had info in the meantime.

Thank you Lilly - I had a polyp removed, I had one period which was better but then they reverted back - I am hopeful that the fibroid being removed will help - fingers crossed. I am glad it helped you :)

The abnormal vascular system/lesions are concerning :(

Hi, I've just had a hysteroscopy and polyp removal amongst other gynae procedures.

Have you been given any indication waht the lesions are given that your smear was clear?

Waiting is very stressful, have you been given any idea of the timeframe for the hysterroscopy.

I'm waiting for results now, glad the procedure is over but still feeling anxious.

UniquelyPerfect · 31/08/2019 17:32

Hi Catnidge,
No - I just said something like... abnormal vascular system and then something about lesions. The gyne (think he had given me to a trainee, just said they didn't know what it was. No idea on how long to wait for the hysteroscopy - I didn't ask that! How long did you have to wait?

Aww, so happy for you that you've had it done at least that is one step closer for you :D did they not give you the results there and then ?

@UniquelyPerfect, maybe you could give the secretary of your gynae a call and see if they can shed any light on it. So many questions come up after the appointment. I always think of loads of things I cvould have asked after.

I only waited two weeks but thats because they already knew I had a high grade CGIN abnormal smear plus polyps and complex cysts.
I'm waiting on biopsy results.

Hoping you don't have to wait too long.

@catnidge - hope that the works...new to Mumsnet.

I tried calling the other day - he wasnt on or his secretary. Spoke to a different sec and she said he may not call me back because some don't speak to patients over the phone - and then told me off for googling Grin

Two weeks isn't bad - I hope everything is ok for you too x

i hate any one who tells people off for googeling you did that because they did not give you information plus they know there are nearly thousands that had bad hysterscopys
