Could I have endometriosis?

Just googled and it seems possible.
I have children, I’m in my late 30s. I don’t want any more children so that’s not an issue.
During my period I get shooting pains up my bum when I need to poop. And actual pooping can be very uncomfortable indeed. Sitting down can be a bit 😳 too.
I had the coil fitted a few months ago and it’s probably got worse since. Although, since I was a teen I can recall these bum pains every so often. I never had a problem conceiving.
Is it possible that I have endometriosis? I don’t want to bother my gp just yet if it’s just period pains

This sort of thing is not normal and does impact on your day to day life. It could well be endometriosis. If GP is at all unhelpful I would then request a referral to a gynaecologist.

In the meantime I would keep a daily pain and symptom diary noting everything.

Lol it is isn't it? My dd while recently on her period did a little "jump" while we were chatting, I said "javelin arse?" She was like Confused what? And I explained. She was like "yes! Every bloody month! I thought it was my weird body" (she has a disability which means she has some bodily "quirks"

Honestly Google "mumsnet javelin arse" or do an AS and you'll find loads of others discussing and some very funny posts on the subject.

See also "Fanny daggers" which is as it sounds similar.

Periods can lead to a lot of weird stuff even if no pathology involved.

There's also "period shits" diarrhoea on first day or 2 (usually the body ridding itself of premenstrually retained fluid), visual disturbances (hormones & fluid retention can change shape of eyeball - nope not even kidding!)

Bodies are bloody weird!

There's loads of others too.

It CAN be something endo sufferers notice but lots who don't have endo get it too. It's a bit of an mn "thing"

We don't talk much about the details of periods so many girls & women don't know that certain things are common even normal - like the diarrhoea

I would never dismiss someone who was really convened and if you still are/have other symptoms then of course go to gp (though be aware it's murder getting a DX even if you have significant symptoms)

But there are some things that are just annoying but normal part of periods that aren't widely discussed.
