Hurrah and Hallelujah. My uterus has been given an eviction notice!

30 years of being a complete bitch. Let me down twice (miscarriage and ectopic). Did what it should do twice (2 grown up DDs). Never officially diagnosed with anything but suggestions have been PCOS and endometriosis. 30 solid years of hideous periods. 30 years of being fobbed off by assorted GPs who told me it was normal to faint, vomit, incapacitate and take over my life for one out of every three or four weeks.
It’s got to the point where my cycles are just 18-20 days long, I bleed huge amounts for 5 days (emptying cup every 2 hours), overflowing, clots. Light bleeding on and off for a further 4 days. Bleeding on and off randomly mid-cycle. Puking and dizzy. Period diarrhoea, excruciating, labour style pain. Another 3 days of pain while i ovulate plus bleeding then too.
Tried everything. Mirena - I bled for 8 months then it fell out. Painfully. Pill - unhinged. Drugs - I’m allergic to the good ones and the others don’t work so well. Herbs, flowers, tea, homeopathy, diet - all bollox.

Finally saw a Dr who actually listened and agreed to whip the bugger out. Not sure how yet as apparently it's ‘bulky’ (like the rest of me) so need a scan to see how big it is. Also waiting on smear results and endometrial biopsy (which hurt like a bastard and is still hurting 4 days later).

Glad your home and doing well macaroon

PostNotInHaste · 22/02/2019 18:01

Yes might have been the painkillers. Morphine after my embolisation made me throw up despite the anti sickness tablets.

That was one big fibroid !

Macaroonmayhem · 22/02/2019 18:49

Maybe football was overstating it a bit. Maybe a netball ball (or whatever is a slightly smaller ball than a football😂). Big enough though. And now it’s gone - yay!

Imacliche · 22/02/2019 19:14

Glad your home and well. Quick question is morphine the standard pain relief after the op? I only ask as last time i had it i was soooo itchy i wanted to pull my own skin off

Macaroonmayhem · 22/02/2019 19:32

I had a wide variety of ‘strong’ painkillers, I’m not sure what or if they all count as morphine. It felt like they were deciding what to give me based on my stated level of pain? There was definitely tramadol one day. Oxy-something as well (which is the one that didn’t agree with me) and I got what I think they referred to as fast acting morphine after my first attempt at standing up didn’t go so well...

I think you could probably ask for alternatives if you really don’t want morphine. You will definitely need something on that level for the first couple of days.(Note, I am not a medical professional so don’t take this as gospel).

Good luck on Monday, I’ll be thinking of you!

Imacliche · 22/02/2019 20:15

Thanks lovely. Ill have to ask before i go under as i dont really want to add itching my own face off to the after op pain. Im have been getting a bit of the fear. Panicking a bit as it seems to be coming so quick. Although already in pretty severe pain so figured it can only be a relief when im finally rid of it all .

Macaroonmayhem · 22/02/2019 21:42

Honestly, I was too. But i feel great now and you will as well. I didn’t really notice my fibroid until it was pointed out to me but even though I’m still quite bloated post-op, I definitely notice it not being there and it’s marvellous. It will be worth it.

Macaroonmayhem · 22/02/2019 21:43

I was terrified too, that should have read.

Imacliche · 23/02/2019 07:07

Mine is for adenomyosis and post ablation sterilisation syndrome. The pain im having day to day is honestly on par with late labour pains. Its started to spread down my bum and legs and sciatic nerve so can only assume it is so swollen down there its pressing on all kinds of things. I have a strong feeling there is a lump/mass of some description on one side aswel as i can kinda feel it. Have been told adenomyosis can cause this. So even though i have the fear im excited not to have to spend everyday on tramadol just to be able to walk . Im off to get last minute bits today. Some sucky sweets. Stock up on pain relief and some pads. Hoping i have everything else i need.
Very nervous Confused

MeganChips · 23/02/2019 11:36

Good luck Imacliche, from the sound of things you will feel so much better afterwards. I’m also on constant painkillers just for the Adenomyosis and fibroids, I can’t imagine having the post ablation pain too.

Will be thinking of you on Monday.

Macaroonmayhem · 23/02/2019 15:55

Well remembered on the sucky sweets, that was the one thing I forgot. My throat was very dry and sore after the GA.

Imacliche · 23/02/2019 16:45

Thanks Megan. Adenomyosis sucks hard doesn't it. The pain is so bloody severe. I remember last time i had GA for my ablation and sterilisation i woke up with a mouth like ghandis flip flop. Must have drunk 6 jugs of water in about an hour 😂

Macaroonmayhem · 24/02/2019 18:24

Good luck tomorrow @Imacliche. Nearly there!

Imacliche · 24/02/2019 18:59

Thanks macaroon. Ive just run myself a nice bubble bath, fresh bedding on the bed and a nice book to relax with and hopefully a nice early night. Probably wont sleep but not long and it will all be over.

Imacliche · 26/02/2019 14:41

Well im home. And feel like ive been hit by a bus! Hoping to sleep some of it off

MeganChips · 26/02/2019 16:55

Sorry to hear that you feel rough. Glad you’re home though and I hope a sleep helps:

Imacliche · 26/02/2019 18:01

Come to the conclusion that being home less than 24 hours after this sort of surgery may be a little too fast. They seem very eager to get you in and out considering its major surgery. Was total laproscopic assisted vaginally. Maybe im just a wuss Hmm

AutumnCrow · 26/02/2019 18:11

@Imacliche No you're not a wuss. I was buggered for a week, not great for another week, and really needed to take things slowly for a month after that.

11 months on, I just realised today I have no visible laparoscopic scars at all. I am booked for a pelvic MRI though as I've some very occasional pain where my cervix used to be. Gynae consultant being thorough I guess and using up the rump of his annual budget.

Anyway, please do take it easy.

Macaroonmayhem · 26/02/2019 20:52

Hey Imacliche good to hear from you. Just max out the painkillers for a few days - you’ll be surprised how quickly you improve.

Imacliche · 27/02/2019 06:32

Autumn thanks for that. Im glad he's being thorough took me a long time to find a gynae that would listen. I managed some sleep after dropping a couple of tramadol last night. Shoulder pain is still pretty bad but hoping pepper mint capsules help with it.

Imacliche · 27/02/2019 06:33

Thanks macaroon. Im going to try and rest up today. Think the walk through the hospital to the car yesterday buggered me up .

EustaciaVye · 27/02/2019 07:42

Hi there,
I am booked for total lap taking ovaries and cervix in April due to adenomyosis.
Can I ask has anyone been taking zoladex before their hysterectomy? If so, was their any 'transition' to menopause or did it just kind of carry on?

PostNotInHaste · 27/02/2019 07:57

iamacliche, glad you’re home. Agree about maxing out the painkillers. Hopefully a couple of days and you’ll be feeling much better.

Imacliche · 27/02/2019 08:23

Thanks everyone. Just coughed and think an anchoring stitch has popped.made me squeal quite loud Sad

Bringbackthestripes · 28/02/2019 10:11

Macaroon your dip in hospital sounds awful, glad you are feeling so well now.

Eusracia sorry, not been on Zoladex. I am terrified of the sudden menopause that will hit.

Imacliche how are you feeling today? Do you have a cough or was it just a random one? I can’t imagine having a cold and constantly coughing after surgery! Hope you are feeling a bit better after a couple of nights in your own bed.

Autumn have they suggested any reasons for pain where cervix used to be? Is this common? Hope the MRI can offer some treatment solutions. Awful to go through all that and still have pain.

Post have you seen the consultant?

Gynae dept phoned me last night, apologised I had been waiting so long but they are still cancelling and delaying ops due to urgent cancer cases so would I be willing to have it done at another hospital? YES PLEASE!
She is sending my details on and they will get in touch with dates but it will be before 31st March ........and now I feel sick with terror.
