Really want a good read but need inspiring. Hate horror, don't want anything really intellectual. here are some of my favourite books in no particular order to give idea of what I like.

Secret History
Wild Swans
Memoirs of a Geisha
Anything by Donna Leon
Pursuit of Happiness
Perfume
Wuthering Heights
Driving over lemons
Crow Road
The Beach
I don't know how she does it
anything by Marian Keyes

help please, otherwise I will be forced to try and finish sh*te cecelia ahern book 'where rainbows end' which is making me want to bite someone.

ks, have you read Emma Brown? I recommended it earlier- not as good, but quite Wilkie Collins-like, so maybea good one for you?

I love E.J. Thribb, no idea he was still going

(Sorry katierocket, will shut up now)

tamum · 12/07/2005 19:14

No, a poet, MrsGR. That narrows it down a bit...

oops patience

spacedonkey · 12/07/2005 19:15

Julian Barnes

it's a must-read for all pedants

tamum · 12/07/2005 19:15

You could type it in capitals, next time

MrsGordonRamsay · 12/07/2005 19:16

So a poet and then a painter

ROFL

This girl is a cliche

MrsGordonRamsay · 12/07/2005 19:17

I could just idly post her Biog with the relevant names in bold

That way you would be absolved

If you search for the word poet here that should tell you all you need to know

tamum · 12/07/2005 19:20

What do you want with a coyp anyway, ks? Actually, I have bought a few second hand books on there and they've been pretty well-described. I think the feedback system works fairly well.

MrsGordonRamsay · 12/07/2005 19:20

I had done, that is why I was offering to absolve your conscience

tamum · 12/07/2005 19:21

How kind

MrsGordonRamsay · 12/07/2005 19:22

Nicely worded

Note it doesn't say she is living husband number 4

She now (2005) lives in Amsterdam with her present husband (she divorced from Robbie Duff Scott). He was no 3.

OH thank you for this thread I am PMSL

KS

Lisa has been through men like the rest of us go through wine..........

Read the link, I just thought it was the funniest thing.

tamum · 12/07/2005 19:31

Ah, but he was married to my boss, wasn't he, so she could indeed have been a painter and decorator (or a plumber, I get mixed up sometimes)
