Just received my pre-ordered copy on Saturday. Anyone else got it and read it (impressed) yet?

Am dying to get started, but worried that life will be put on hold when I do!!

That's the second one isn't it? not read it yet. the girl witht he dragon tattoo was very good though.

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/10/2009 17:31

no it's the third one. i'm determined to hold out until it's in paperback.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 17:33

I've ordered mine from Amazon so should be here any day now.
I just finished the first and second and loved them.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 17:33

Eccentrica you can buy it on Amazon in paperback, for the same price as the hardback.
I paid £8.99 for the hardback.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 17:35

Here
Actually the paperback is more expensive than the hardback, which has gone up by 50p since I ordered mine.

EccentricaGallumbits · 06/10/2009 17:36

oh dear. shouldn't have told me that. i'll need to buy it now.

bigstripeytiger · 06/10/2009 17:40

I have read this book, I thought it was great. I loved the first two, and this one is just as good (maybe better).

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 17:42

That was quick. Its only been out for 6 days.

bigstripeytiger · 06/10/2009 17:51

It came out last thursday, so I bought it that evening, and read it in the evenings. I finished it on Saturday night, I ended up staying up late to finish it, but I couldnt wait to find out how it ended .

angelz · 06/10/2009 17:53

Waterstone's have it on offer at the mo. - quite cheap for hardback in memory serves me right...... Unfortunately with my little ds who has silent reflux at the mo I am not getting much time to read, but really looking forward to getting stuck in soon :O)

bigstripeytiger · 06/10/2009 17:55

It was £10 in Tesco.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 18:00

What (without giving anything away) is the story about this time?
I was a bit at the way book 2 ended. I thought there would be at least another chapter.

giddykipper · 06/10/2009 18:03

Bought it yesterday, about half way through now. 'Tis very good. Story so far is about the aftermath of what happened in book 2.

SkivingViking · 06/10/2009 18:04

Have just started the second book - but have quite a few friends who have read all 3 and apparently the 3rd book finishes off the second book?

Wish his partner would release the 4th book for publication...

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 18:22

There's a fourth book? Finished?

SkivingViking · 06/10/2009 19:14

I don't think it is finished.

His girlfriend has it and there is a big dispute (because of the will) and she is refusing to let it be published (or something like that - can't remember the details )

SkivingViking · 06/10/2009 19:16

According to wiki - he also left the synopsis for the 5th and 6th books and had planned 10 in all. (Wiki also says that the manuscript for the 4th is unfinished)

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 20:10

Oh what a shame he died before he got a chance to write them. I'd have been happy to read all 10 I'm sure.

foxinsocks · 06/10/2009 20:14

I have got it and am a few chapters in

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 20:15

Does is pick up where the last one finished?

foxinsocks · 06/10/2009 20:16

yes, very much so. I half wished I'd read the last chapter of the book before (to refresh my memory!) but it's all come back to me anyway

nightmareonELMstreet · 06/10/2009 20:23

Brilliant - couldn't put it down. Going to start it again now for a second time as it is so packed full I'm sure I missed bits!

paranoiabigdestroyer · 06/10/2009 20:32

Mine arrived from Amazon today. My Mum is Swedish and I think read it a while ago but hasn't revealed the ending. She's also read the very last Wallandar which was published in Sweden last month. Thing is - I'm supposed to be reading the Sarah Waters one for the MN Book group - so have a lot of reading to look forward to.

The review of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's nest in the The Times described Salander as a grown up and seriously abused version of Pippi Longstocking...

foxinsocks · 06/10/2009 20:47

oh I love Wallander

have really missed having new ones of those to read

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2009 21:12

Paranoia, according to Wikipedia, Larsson based Lisbeth Salander on Pippi Longstocking.
