Anyone who has read this? Is it a comic book?

DH just went to the library to get it,they don't have it but he got me another of her books and he said it's a comic style thingy. Not really my usual kind of book.

Thanks

I haven't read it yet but its on my book case. Its definately not a comic style book, its a proper novel.

Without doubt one of the best books I have ever read. You will not be able to put it down, my family were self sufficient for two whole days while I finished it!!

All my friends have read it and feel same way. Enjoy!

There was a thread yesterday about the film that's just out - mostly people were saying that they thought the characters weren't right. So I'd read the book first!

aGalChangedHerName · 29/07/2009 12:04

Yes i am looking forward to it!!

Will be reading it on my hols next week.

Will read the book first too.

I've tried to read it twice now and not succeeded; tedious beyond belief!

Seems to be a Marmite book in that people love it or hate it.

andiem · 30/07/2009 21:26

I loved it in fact am re reading it at the moment can't wait for the film

Hollyoaks · 30/07/2009 21:26

Glad you got it, I loved it, going to re-re read it before the film comes out (as in read it for the 3rd time, I'm not slurring my words!)

Wish I had a DH who'd trawl the libraries for me. Not sure he's ever been in a library

aGalChangedHerName · 31/07/2009 08:00

LOL we are a family of readers thankfully so he doesn't mind.

He knew i really wanted it for our hols and he knows from past experience that it's good to keep his DW happy iykwim?

Loved it. Original and moving love story.

MrsOlf · 01/08/2009 14:39

My DH bought me this when it first came out and I read it cover to cover (before DCs obviously...) I then read it again immediately!

cheapskatemum · 04/08/2009 22:52

MrsOlf - me too! And I haven't done that since "6 Cousins at Mistletoe Farm" an Enid Blyton book I read aged about 8! Don't think I'll bother with the film though.

Parmageddon · 04/08/2009 22:54

Also one of my fave books - ending very moving. Even my Dad said he was crying!!

Inspirachion · 04/08/2009 22:55

The Time Travellers Wife is a perfect story IMO

trixymalixy · 04/08/2009 23:02

Loved it. Cried my eyes out as well.

bruffin · 04/08/2009 23:03

I loved it, but if anyone wants to read something similar The House on The Strand by Daphne Du Maurier is even better.

oneopinionatedmother · 04/08/2009 23:07

love that book: read it.

donttrythisathome · 05/08/2009 20:42

OOh, am I going to be flamed? I didn't like it. Thought he had a touch of a "groomer" about him (in the paedophile sense). Thought it was a tad pretentious, and even racist. Also a bit facile.

Mind you, I still read it all and was gripped so male of that what you will

donttrythisathome · 05/08/2009 20:43

make, not male.

OrmIrian · 05/08/2009 20:44

Arrggggghhhhhhhh!

Hate hate hate that book!

Sorry.

Hated all the characters. Wasn't interested in them at all.

OrmIrian · 05/08/2009 20:45

bruffin - House on the Strand is a lovely book. Much much better than Time Travellers [spit} wife!

RoseBlossoms · 05/08/2009 20:47
