Ooh Mallory Towers. When they did a pantomime in the fifth, and Alicia played the Demon King and Moira was stuckup and someone was sending poison pen letters which were terribly upsetting, and it turned out to be June, Moira's wayward and difficult younger sister.

Magic faraway tree, The wishing chair, anything by Enid Blyton. The twits, The bfg, James & the giant peach anything by Roald Dahl.

I loved the Swish of the Curtain, absolutely my favourite, used to dream longingly of putting on glamorous real plays. Also loved, A Wizard of Earthsea, E Nesbitt books, and just about anything really!!!!

Swish of the Curtain was wonderful - glamour and romance and a hero called Nigel. Just like the Archers really. I still love and collect Geoffrey Trease - The Crown of Violet was one of those life-changing books, it gave me the courage to choose Latin and Greek in the face of opposition.

Oh, without a doubt the Jill and her Ponies books by Ruby Furgeson - anyone remember them? There were about 8 books in total as I remember. They were all about Jill and her adventures with her two ponies Black Boy and Rapide. They were fab and I read them all about a hundred times over. If I still had them now I swear I'd read them all again too!

Also a series of books about ballet by Lorna Hill - "Veronica at the Wells" etc.
All the Noel Streatfield books - "The Vicarage Family", "Ballet Shoes for Anna"
Also The Chalet School books and Trebizon books

When I was younger, I loved My Naughty Little Sister books and can't wait to buy them for DD!
