Squeeeeeeee!!!!

My darling other half's first book called "The Adamantine Palace", a fantasy novel with dragons, is officially published by Gollancz today. Mind you, it's been on sale in Waterstones for a week now - don't ask me why..

Anyway, we're totally ecstatic. For him this is one of the most important days of his life and it's been a long time coming. He started writing (not the same book, obviously) at age 15 and is turning 41 this year..

Links to Amazon are here

And his website here

We're going to spend the day celebrating!!

Good on ya Mr Michaelad! Shameless promotion, you go for it, you have a right to be proud. Must be great to see your name on Amazon like that! Quite surreal.

michaelad · 21/03/2009 10:55

We had a really nice lunch and then went into Central London. He had to sign books in Goldsboro books and Forbidden Planet. Afterwards it was off to the Phoenix Artists Club on Charing Cross Rd.

The night was so good, I've now completely lost my voice

Congrats to him. It's a good moment.

It's great you're so supportive and it makes a REAL difference. I couldn't have got a book published if it hadn't been for my husband.

michaelad · 21/03/2009 11:00

Hey Eliza!
It's been mad..and still is! One day it will finally feel real but for the time being we will just enjoy the ride. It could all be over in a flash, iykwim. It's off to EasterCon in Bradford in a few weeks where he's doing some panels, then he's at the London Sci-Fi/Fantasy Film festival.. it's all bizarre but good fun!

Yes, he keeps saying how it wouldn't have happened without me. Maybe I can allow myself to take a teeny weeny bit of credit, but only a lit bit.

Congrats to Mr D. I know exactly how hard it is to get published properly anywhere, in any genre. Gollancz are a good strong name to have behind him. Hope they promote him well. Does he have a good agent?

Flamesparrow · 21/03/2009 13:07

I've had it on my amazon waiting list thing for aaaaaaaaaaaaages

Will be getting DH to buy it for my birthday next week

Flamesparrow · 21/03/2009 13:09

Oooh Eliza - I did a thread for you ages ago (Jan maybe) in adult fiction (your name is in the title), asking about a type of writing thingy that you used and am intrigued about

2Eliza2 · 22/03/2009 12:26

Oh, I'm sorry I missed that, Flamesparrow! What was the writing thingy? I'm intrigued now!
Yeah--you take lots of credit, Michaelad! You've earned it.

DogStar · 22/03/2009 12:30

really great news well done indeed !!!!

michaelad · 24/03/2009 12:51

@unquietdad: he's with J. Jarrold so we really can't complain

Congratulations and well done. I remember the wild excitement of getting my first novel published (don't you lot get excited, it was a magazine-format 'full-length story, long out of print). There is no feeling like it in the world, so do enjoy.

OhBling · 24/03/2009 12:57

Have added it to my wish list - I love a good dragon book and like Gollanz generally.

Mmm... maybe I need to work on the power of MN for my DH's music? Will think...!

Well done both of you!

barbarianoftheuniverse · 24/03/2009 13:19

Well done, I started off with Gollancz.
Hijack- UnQdad do you belong to the SAS?

PestoBlusteryMonster · 24/03/2009 13:22
