Somewhere between Vancouver and Calgary.

@FurForksSake curious about the book, especially as I live somewhere between Calgary and Vancouver!

FurForksSake · 26/09/2025 19:08

@MooseBeTimeForSnow I’m afraid it is smut 😆

We just read the same book! And I do the same, every year. It's just lovely.

Oh that's great! It's my favourite book, I really look forward to my Bognor holiday each year! (Real life holidays in boring old 2025 definitely can't compare) 😂

Biscuitsneeded · 26/09/2025 19:19

Vietnam and California.

What book is this?

It's The Fortnight In September by RC Sherriff, my absolute favourite!

Ha, spotted. Yep, thought I'd give this one a re-read before it goes on the donate pile. I admire it, it's a fine book, but I dont love it.

It was the mention of Baltimore. Which one?

I definitely love some Anne Tylers more than others, but they’ve all escaped the periodic we-have-run-out-of-space-surely-something-can-go cull of the bookcases so far.

Digging to America, A Patchwork Planet, Ladder of Years, The Accidental Tourist and the one that is the subject of my post on this thread will be permanent residents.

Bognor Regis 1931. I start re-reading it on the afternoon of the first Friday of this month every year.

What a lovely idea. I think I am going to adopt your tradition.

Mostly a small tropical island with a couple of flashbacks to 70’s London.

It'll be one of the Strike books by JK Rowling (Strike lives in a flat in Denmark Street, above his office)

I suspect this is the same novel as mine. My characters haven't made it to Venice yet, though. Someone has just been bashed with an ashtray.
