Historical fiction recommendations

Could anyone recommend any historical fiction books for me please? Set in the 19th or 20th century ideally.

I love Val Wood. Mostly set in late 19th century in and around Hull and the east riding coast. I like them partly because I know the area well but also great characters, strong women protagonists.
I second Ken Follet, any of his historical novels. There's a series that goes from around 1900 to 1960.
