I love reading women's magazines, always have.

I've just been thinking of defunct women's magazines that I have enjoyed in the past, namely

Annabel (still have a free sewing kit that came with one issue)
Essentials
Family Circle
Living
She
Woman's Realm
Woman's World
Working Woman

Can anyone remember any that I may have missed?

I loved my magazines!! I’ had a job after school in a newsagents, what joy!!! I had so many weekly mags in my teens - late 70s - that my Dad said I’d made the house wonky with their weight! I had Pink, Jackie, Diana, and short lived ones like Mates and Fab208 . I kept some from the 80s and 90s as well as pretty well all the Family Circle and Living ones… I just get Prima and Good Housekerping now (cheap subscriptions) I think I kept the publishers going single-handed my😆
Anyone remember an 80s one called New Woman? In the same style as Company & Cosmo.

I loved She in the 60s and 70s - it was quite racy for its time,.and had really interesting articles.

I adored Jackie as a young teen then graduated into Just17 (when I was about 15)

I also absolutely loved Misty. It was a bit like Bunty but all the stories were supernatural. Some of them were utterly terrifying. I'd love to read that again...

I bought an old Misty annual at a school fete when I was about nine. It really scared me, so I asked my mum to give it away again. I remember one feature was about ghosts in Drury Lane Theatre, including the Man in Grey in his tricorne hat. A few years later, I regretted giving the annual away as I wanted to read it again.

I used to love getting a kids magazine annual at Christmas and loved getting the occasional teen/women's magazine title in annual form when I was older. Still have my sister's Pink Annual 1978 which I purloined.

I was a teen in the late 70s and 80s so most of my favourites have been mentioned.

There was an early song lyrics one I loved called Disco 45. It was printed in rough paper.

Jackie
Blue Jeans
Mates
Photo Love
Just Seventeen - the trial issue came free with Smash Hits, same creative team of David Hepworth, Mark Ellen & co. I still have some promo badges somewhere!

The Hit - that was also music-based.

In the 80s there was a brilliant food magazine called Eat Soup. It was funny, clever, not at all serious. Only ran for a few issues. I loved it. I've still got a few copies somewhere in the attic.

I loved magazines!

ShalalaIa · 07/01/2025 07:41

I loved She magazine

Joystir59 · 07/01/2025 07:46

Diva, Pink News, Shout. When I was coming out

Joystir59 · 07/01/2025 07:46

Cosmopolitan. Is that still going?

ShalalaIa · 07/01/2025 07:54

I saw a very thin OK magazine for sale in TESCO at over £4. I don't know how they survive

CinnamonSweet73 · 07/01/2025 07:58

Marie Claire was another one I loved!

ButterCrackers · 07/01/2025 07:59

Eve, Honey- is Prima still going?

Misty was a favourite. My school had a box/shelf with copies of this magazine and I read them all.

As a teen I loved 'Shout' magazine and when I got a bit older and was off out clubbing, 'Ministry' magazine.

DistractMe · 07/01/2025 11:39

Bunty

LunaNorth · 07/01/2025 12:34

I loved all the above, and liked reading my sister’s Patches and My Guy, too.

Edithisoverthere · 08/01/2025 10:37

I've been cleaning out, found a box of 1980s/90s annuals and they've pretty much stopped me doing anything else - the photo stories alone! My favourite was a pic that said 'lovely light' and it was indeed a lovely light 😂

Well come on you need to share some pics of the photo stories at least! and the lovely light ✨️

MeltingSky · 08/01/2025 14:04

Growing up I read my mums Take a break and people's friend mags as well as one called Woman... or something.

As a pre teen/teen, I read my sisters Just 17, sugar, more, mizz, cosmopolitan, bliss, shout, smash hits and TOTP mags. When she left home I continued buying these myself.

As a young adult (18+) I bought kerrang, metal hammer, focus, new scientist and Stuff. I definitely switched gears in my formative years 😆

MeltingSky · 08/01/2025 14:06

I follow a page on insta called 90s teen magazine archive. It's fab

Wintersgirl · 08/01/2025 14:11

I do remember Woman's Weekly as my gran used to get it for the knitting patterns, it was so old fashioned even back then, I also remember the pages being really thin and of poorish quality.
