I've just finished said book, thoroughly enjoyed it.
No idea what to read next, can anyone inspire me please?

I loved it too and have been unable to find anything like it since.

The Maid was good and a bit similar, but I think Eleanor ruined every book for me for ever more. Maybe I’ll read it again!!

titchy · 19/10/2023 21:12

Rachel Joyce books often have a similar vibe?

Headchecked · 19/10/2023 21:14

Eileen and then My year of rest and relaxation - strong EO vibes! And both as brilliant (I think Eileen is slightly better), shocking twists and brilliant characters. I loved them and was bereft when I finished Eileen.

Yes to strange Sally diamond and also Elizabeth is missing which I loved!

SecondUsername4me · 19/10/2023 21:51

Was just going to recommend Away With the Penguins and Lessons in Chemistry - glad both have come up.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 19/10/2023 21:56

It's not really the same style, but have you read The Keeper Of Lost Things? It made me feel the same way as Eleanor Oliphant did, iyswim. Also Elizabeth Is Missing, whilst I enjoyed it very much it did hit me hard in places. I think that one might be a bit marmite.

How to Kill your family by Bella Mackie

DragonmotherKhaleesi · 19/10/2023 21:58

Brilliant! Thank you all very much.
I'm off to look at your recommendations.
