My sister the serial killer by Oyenkin Braithwaite is good, shortish and different.

Depends on what you're after but I very much enjoyed the following:

Small Island - Andrea Levy

The Girls From Corona Del Mar - Rufi Thorpe

People Person - Candice Carty-Williams

Femlandia - Christina Dalcher

Enjoy your holiday 😊

Demon Copperhead.

winewolfhowls · 16/09/2023 07:10

Not the best books ever ever but enjoyed the wool trilogy recently.

It's about a future where humans live in silos and noone knows why, revolts and hunts for the truth etc.

winewolfhowls · 16/09/2023 07:11

Oh and that one where women turn into dragons was a fun easy read

Floofydawg · 16/09/2023 07:32

I've just read two Jodi Picoult books back to back and both were brilliant. Mad Honey, and Wish You Were Here.

Another vote for Demon Copperhead.

Anne Enright’s The Wren, the Wren, Katja Oscamp’s Marzahn Mon Amour, Mary Gaitskill’s Don’t Cry.

sunnygardenday · 16/09/2023 08:41

I loved American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. It's not an easy read, but it's an amazing book

fairislecable · 16/09/2023 08:48

The Echo Chamber - John Boyne It’s a satire on social media, the BBC etc a really laugh out loud book.

Demon Copperhead - Barbara Kingsolver The story of David Copperfield updated to modern life. Instead of dirty streets of gin soaked Victorian London it is set in trailer parks and fentanyl addiction. It is grim, informative, loving and in parts funny, but it is so well written. I met a man in my local bookshop reading it and he had had to pause as it was making him cry 😢.

Loopy9 · 16/09/2023 08:50

Ditto. Four Winds and Where the Crawdads sing. Both great books
