I really had a totally different image of Henry in my mind both times I read that book, I was picturing someone muscular but quite slim and tall, and really dark features, a bit ragged, like the hair, unshaven, and just...the type who would listen to punk music, you know? Eric Bana just looks way too slick for the role, personally. Maybe he'll be great at it, but that's my first impression of things. And Ron Livingston is the last person I'd picture while reading Gomez!!

I like Eric Bana, he's a great actor. He isn't slick at all! At least, he wasn't in Chopper... he was fat and scary

I think it is a difficult book to successfully make a movie from. I quite liked the book, hopefully they won't ruin it. The movie is never as good as the book though, is it?

Brilliant book. Not sure about the cast , though to be fair I've never actually seen Eric Bana or Rachel McAdams act though.

I imagined Henry as a sort of cross between Adrian Brody and Milo Ventimiglia. I think I've got a floppy fringe thing going on

zisforzebra · 14/01/2008 21:41

I imagined Henry as being a bit more like Edward Norton/Adrian Brody but I love Eric Bana, he is hot! (I hope they stay true to the book, he'll spend half the film arriving naked )

smartiejake · 15/01/2008 21:10

Wasn't sure who Eric Bana was.Just googled him- drool! but not right for the part- agree too slick and too young too.

Saw the thread title and thought "please don't let it be Tom Hanks in the lead..." Hoorah! Can look for ward to it now.

(that's a special new way of writing forward that only special people can use)

I loved the book so much and it's constantly on my bedside to pick up and read every now and then. It's my favourite book.

Didn't know they had cast it, last I heard was that Jen and Brad bought it but with the divorce thought the film would be left in limbo.

No to Eric Bana. Adrian is definitely a good choice. For Claire I would go for the girl from Six Feet Under Lauren Ambrose, although Rachel is a good actress.

Brazilianmum · 25/01/2008 16:27

Ron Livingston as Gomez is just wrong. bad bad choice.

ok I'm going to go out on a limb here and say - Henry for Henry.. ya know Henry on Ugly Betty. have you seen his bod?
