Just wondering what everyone has read in the last few months and if you enjoyed.

I read The Chain by Adrian McKinity. The first chapter I wasn't sure I'd get into it, but I read it within days and really enjoyed.

Another good one for me was Those People by Louise Candlish and just didn't see the end coming, so have just started The Other Passenger by OP.

OP posts:

Following- I love a thriller and need a new one!

SOLINVICTUS · 08/02/2021 13:09

The only real page turner recently for me (but last summer) was Three Hours.
I love this genre but am getting mighty tired of next door neighbour/best friend turning out to be psychopath trope.

Frequentflier · 08/02/2021 17:20

I love this genre, but have been increasingly disappointed by the really poor writing in most lately.

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/02/2021 17:26

I loved The Chain. I also love the Fiona Griffiths books by Harry Bingham.

Matilda2013 · 08/02/2021 17:28

My favourite so far this year has been The Last Thing To Burn By Will Dean.
Other favourites from other years:
The Other Passenger - Louise Candlish
I Let You Go - Clare Mackintosh
Tell Me Your Secret - Dorothy Koomson

There are 2 detective type series by Cara Hunter and Katerina Diamond that I really enjoy.

I've also read The Chain and really enjoyed it. I've read The Holiday, The Catch and Lies by T M Logan in the last six months. Easy to get into characters and you can't work out the twist until the end.

Ghostofborleyrectory · 10/02/2021 08:49

Liz Nugent's books are more well written than a lot of other ones in the genre- Tana French is good too.

Mooserp · 10/02/2021 16:39

I like Louise Candlish, Shari Lapena and Peter Swanson.

Agree with SOLINVICTUS that there are a lot with similar storylines

I’ve just finished The Other passenger, absolutely loved it! Agree about Liz Nugent, recently read Our little cruelties. Also enjoy Shari Lapena and Katherina Diamond. I’ve just started The Shadow Man by Helen Fields.

peanutbutterandbananas · 16/02/2021 22:56

I just finished Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce and recommend it!

SavageBeauty73 · 16/02/2021 22:58

Child A was superb.

LemonRedwood · 16/02/2021 23:00

The Appeal by Janice Hallett

Not quite psychological thriller but a brilliant puzzle and just a different way of writing that made it so interesting. I worked out some bits which was satisfying but also enjoyed a couple of unexpected twists.

Thirtyrock39 · 16/02/2021 23:08

Anatomy of a scandal was very good and I think Is being made into a film
The new girl by Harriet tye
Magpie lane
Little disasters
Also read a good cheap kindle one called paper dolls that I think was recommended on here recently

Meggymoo777 · 16/02/2021 23:41

Oooh, will definitely look into the recommendations above, have read both The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena and finished Broken Promise by Linwood Barclay since Sunday, they definitely had an 'un-put-downable' quality to them. Think the Linwood Barclay was the first of a trilogy so will order the next 2, I enjoyed it!

CazEngland · 11/08/2021 20:45

Anyone like a psychological thriller with bookclub group questions at the end for discussion? THE HOUSE ON THE WATER'S EDGE by CE Rose has some!

Hotmess1 · 16/08/2021 20:45

Who was this book by, please? I’m sure I’ve read and enjoyed this book but can’t for the life of me find it online!

Flackattack · 16/08/2021 20:47

Blood orange and the appeal are the best I’ve read in a while!

Thirteen by Steve cavanagh brilliant and refreshing change!

Going to check our the recommendations!

Brackenandbramble · 16/08/2021 20:55

I came on to say Thirteen but Flackattack beat me too it!
The girl before by JP Delaney

Mooserp · 17/08/2021 12:31

Thirteen sounds good - and it's available at my local library.

I've recently read and enjoyed That Night by Gillian McAllister. I think it would make a good TV series.

madamehooch · 21/08/2021 05:28

The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton and Lying in Wait by Liz Nugent

tripfiction · 23/08/2021 13:23

Greenwich Park by Katherine Faulkner

Stolen by Tess Stimson

BeansMeansBeans · 23/08/2021 13:31

I love all of JP Delaney! Especially "Believe Me" and "the perfect wife".

Got the new one by the author of blood orange. "The lies you told". Anyone read it? Any good?

PizzaBreath · 23/08/2021 16:28

Marathon training at the mo, and audiobook thrillers get me through, a couple of late:
Bella Mackie - how to kill your family. Really liked, not quite the genre but similar and made me laugh out loud a few times too.
Claire Makintosh - Hostage - also enjoyed, slightly rushed ending I felt (ie I wanted to remain in story longer!) but I liked it
Jane Casey - the killing kind, not the normal Maeve series, and quite different to that. Reading at the moment, fairly far fetched in places but again enjoying.

I Know What I Saw by Imran Mahmood (excellent)
When You Are MIne by Michael Robotham
The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell
