I have a kindle but read a mixture of paperbacks and kindle.

I look in charity shops (pre lockdown) but I have a few specific books I'm after. I'd like to avoid Amazon I think.

Where do you buy your books from?

I use

<a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=www.hive.co.uk/" target="_blank">hive

Amazon

waterstones

Depends who has the book I want the cheapest but generally that's amazon.

For new books, my local independent will order any title for me for the next day. They phone me when it's on and put it aside for me. It's a little more expensive than Amazon, but they are a local business so I am happy to pay the extra.
For second hand I use abe books or private sellers on eBay if I am after something specific. Oxfam bookshop for browsing.

In person, charity shops, National Trust second hand bookshops, small independents. Waterstones or Smiths last resort. Online, local independent, Hive, Amazon if I really can't find it anywhere else.

I will definitely be heading down to my local library when things are up and running.
There is a book that I'm after and it's only available in hardback and about £11/12 at the moment on all mentioned sites.
And then I discovered it was only 99p for the kindle version so couldn't turn that down!

I'll also head to our local bookshop,I agree that it's nice to shop local. They also have loads of 2nd hand books.
