Needing some recommendations!

I really need some good recommendations! My tastes are quite mixed but if anyone on here loved any of the following books we might have similar tastes! These are some of my real favourites over the last ten years or so!

Any ideas/recommendations ?

I've just finished the turn of the key by ruth ware finished it in 2 days and really enjoyed :)

Start reading Where The Crawdads Sing

I’m reading it now. I’ve struggled to read recently (too much going on at work) but I absolutely love it. About two thirds through and already have that feeling I don’t want it to end. Have also got the audio which is really good (so can drift off at night listening)

Yes to Where the Crawdads Sing. My other lockdown reads have been American Dirt, which is absolutely brilliant, I couldn't put it down, Normal People, and her other one, Conversations with Friends, and at the moment I'm reading the new Liz Nugent one, Our Little Cruelties, and really liking it so far. She writes really good thriller/drama stuff... And if you haven't read any of her books yet I'd go for her first one, Unravelling Oliver.

I second the Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri. Joint favourite book of the year so far. My book club have never talked about a book for so long or rated one more highly!

Other joint favourite was On Chapel Beach. It's a non fiction about a family mystery but it's beautifully written.

Favourite of last year was The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell. Quite creepy though!

I agree with Drink about American Dirt. It really is a book you can’t put down. Eye opening, full of strong women, and will put most people’s grumbles into perspective.
I also enjoyed Blood Orange and Little Fires Everywhere.

I’ve just finished magpie lane by Lucy Atkins and really enjoyed it .

I can absolutely recommend American wife - brilliant.

I’ve just finished “a book of secrets” by Kate Morrison. It was one of the best books I’ve read for a long time.

I loved 'Her Fearful Symmetry' by Audrey Niffenegger. It's very different to Time Traveller's Wife though. Might give it a reread actually. ☺️

Thank you! I think I will start it tonight sounds promising.

I'm currently reading The Volunteer (Auschwitz). It is a good but quite challenging at the moment. I was holding off starting the Crawdads as I prefer to finish one before I start another but you have swayed me!

I have read All the light we cannot see a couple of years ago and loved it!

I did nearly pick up American wife and a few people are recommending the bee keeper of Aleppo so I will add these to my list.

I tried silent companions last year - I did enjoy it but maybe not as much as I thought I would.

I really tried with Her Fearful Symmetry - I don't think I actually finished it. It was a very different book to The Time Travellers Wife and I think my expectations were too high. I should maybe revisit it.

Bizarrely Audrey Niffennegger has never ever written a third book.

One of my other favourite authors Khalid Hosseini has also gone a long time without another book which is a shame

I just need the library to reopen now as I tend to use that !
