yes but on the plus side:

No twice weekly requests for home made cakes, white elephants, beetle drive organisers or responsible people to help out the lollipop lady.

No sports day, school play or carol service at which mass infection is spread to entire audience just in time for holidays.

No collections for leaving teachers, no matter how gruesome the circumstances in which they are leaving.

I want Madame Hooch's job. She only ever seems to teach them on elesson at the start of year 1, and then is the ref at the quiditch matches. Dossy little number that!

Madam Hooch has really cool boots too. Although, not so sure about her flying hat

They don't let any parents near Hogwarts do they? The only parents are the Weasley's and the Malfoy's? And they work for the government I think.

The other parents don't even seem to turn up for parents evenings or quidditch matches. Think they are all uninterested in their children's education and probably couldn't give a toss which house they are in.

My DS would DEF be in slytherin

edam · 16/07/2007 20:24

I'd feel guilty but would let ds join Slytherin as it would give me an opportunity to sidle up to Alan Rickman.

Hathor - lots of parents did turn up for Dumbledores funeral. I don't suppose it was as much fun as a Sports Day or Family BBQ but there was probably free butterbeer.

Would not want my kids in Slytherin, but on the other hand, me Snape and Luscious Malfoy - sorted!

DangerousBeans · 16/07/2007 23:50

I would think that one of the major advantages of Hogwarts is that it is largely immune to parental influence, and the Sorting Hat's decision is final.

bookwormtailmum · 16/07/2007 23:57

My dd wouldn't like Slytherin since she hates snakes. I'm not sure I'd want her to be in Grffyindor though - it seems a bit of a fix that they win the House Championship every year as soon as Harry gets there. Bit of favouritism there? . Hufflepuff for me - Lily came from Hufflepuff.

Hallgerda · 17/07/2007 21:01

DS2 would undoubtedly be in Slytherin (other 2 probably Gryffindor). As it's clearly his destiny, who would I be to go against that?

tomps · 17/07/2007 21:05

Not if Jade Goody's son was there.

expatinscotland · 17/07/2007 21:07

I don't believe in boarding schools so they wouldn't be there, anyway.
