I am in need of a good laugh!

Any good suggestions for a funny book?

I recently read 'This is Going to Hurt' which was fab! But need a new recommended read...

book

Just read the first of this series. It was fairly light hearted and fun. May not be laugh out loud, but enjoyable.

Porterhouse blue by Tom sharpe

I like Janet evanovich’s ‘one for the money’ and all the following books. I find they can make me laugh.

Just started reading Jodi Taylor's Chronicles of Saint Mary's and am recommending them to everyone

Oranges are not the only fruit. It's quite a sad storyline but the main character has a way with word and a dark sense of humour that had me chortling on the train.

3 books have had me laughing loudly while reading them on public transport:
Men At Arms by Terry Pratchett
The Sound of Laughter by Peter Kay
Open the Cage, Murphy! by Paul O'Grady

Anything by Bill Bryson - his older books. Notes from a small island, a walk in the woods etc. Fab!

The Rosie project made me laugh out loud

Bittern11 · 21/04/2019 00:43

So funny - I couldn't stand the Rosie Project. Couldn't finish it.

It's very old, but I love Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis. Really daft humour and slapstick bits. It's a post-war book, but extremely funny.

drigon · 21/04/2019 00:56

Adrian Mole books always guaranteed a good laugh too.

drigon · 21/04/2019 00:57

The one with him living in a warehouse apartment with the swans outside is very good.

Tunt · 21/04/2019 00:59

Nina Stibbe really makes me laugh. Love, Nina is fab but her novels really make me belly laugh.

drigon · 21/04/2019 01:01

It's Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction (2004)

BluntAndToThePoint · 21/04/2019 01:19

I second the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. They've had me cackling to myself like a madwoman on the plane a fair few times.

pinkginplease · 21/04/2019 01:28

This is going to hurt by Adam Kay
I second the Adrian mole books also my 11 year old son is now reading them which gives me such joy they are amazing!
