Hi charmingMertyl. Last time I didn't start reading the book until the Sunday and didn't finish it for about 4 days. I managed not to hear or see any spoilers and I didn't live in a cave or anything. I think that you have to be really unlucky - or a bit daft - to find out what happens before you are ready. I was looking back in the archives at old HP threads (yes, I know, I really am that sad) and saw one titled something like "Has anyone finished reading, I want to ask a question" and the first 2 or 3 responces were from people complaining that they had opened the thread and found out the ending

I'm not saying that you, or anyone else here, would do this, I just think that we need to be more careful and try to avoid people or places where we might hear things we don't want to - like threads titled "This thread tells you the ending!" and we should be OK

Ah - x posts. It's tricky if you are going to be around people who might do it on purpose! I'd be if anyone deliberately spoiled it for me.

'my lord...,' interrupted Draco, hesitatingly, 'Snape didn't give me...

'Silence!' Snape bridled, 'Do not interrupt the dark Lord! It is still professor Snape to you, as i fear you still have a great deal to learn,' Snape turned towards Voldemort, 'If it is the dark lords wish that you continue your miserable existence'

Voldemort turned away, facing the fire,'He may still prove of some use Severus, tell me more about this little gathering. Will the mudblood be there?'

'The Mudblood Granger? my lord? I presume so, she is close to the weasley boy.

Voldemort turned back from the fire, the light forming an aura around his dark cloak. 'Good.'. He placed the very tips of his fingers together and suppressed a chuckle. 'I'm not concerned about Potter until I've had some fun with his little friends.'

Draco slipped un-noticed into the corner of the room, shadows hiding his face, thinking of happier times, clouding his thoughts from the two dark wizards in the centre of the room.

I think that the reason Rickman seems a bit off for Snape is his age. He's got it right in essence, the voice and manner but Snape is late thirties and AR cannot hide the fact that he is more than 20 years older. The weight I think is the main issue. Snape is skinny and angular.

1 thing has always puzzled me and my DD. If you were a good wizard and excellent at potions would you not make a decent shampoo to degrease your hair

LazyLineLegilimens - He is 51 so, yes he is too old. I, however, think he is perfect, sorry. I can't think of anyone who would do the part nearly so well.

quick question ( apologies, really can't be arsed checking, hope someone knows this off hand.) base colour of hogwarts uniform? dark blue or grey or both permissible with house colours?

( i ask as am doing a painting of black sisters in school uniforms and am at the jumpers stage)

He said so himself, Voldemort will come from him be it next week or ten years from now.

Jeremy Irons would have made a perfect Snape.
Angular, skinny, greasy(if he wants to be), and very evil too.

Expat, JKR said the books were about his school years so we assumed it would be during his last year even if he isn't in school.
At least I did.

Hmm, Jeremy Irons? He's 49 so also too old. But agree that he might have been OK. I'm happy with Alan Rickman tho.

Expat - I agree with BOM. JKR always said that the books cover his time in school, so, even if he isn't at school the book will take place during what would be his last year.

Kneazle, I have addec to the story on the other thread, what a great idea.

Oh and Irons played Snape on a comic relief skit of HP and he was fantastic.

I love writing, it is so fun to do something like that, think with so many authors there might be some argumanets as to plot tho
