Which detective next?

I’m currently stuck in hospital, and want distracting by a good detective novel. I love Mark Billingham’s Tom Thorne series, and have just finished Lethal White by Robert Galbraith. I’ve lost track on where I’ve got to on Bosch, Brunetti and Rebus (but suppose I have time to figure it out now!)

Any recommendations on who I should read next?

Wow! What a lot of fantastic suggestions- thank you all so much. I’ve downloaded what I hope is the next Harry Bosch, as it was a safe choice, but I definitely now have scope to be more adventurous next time!

Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache novels are wonderful. Quite cosy but also a darker side as the series goes on and dwell a lot on descriptions of delicious sounding food!

I think other people have covered the genre pretty well,so I won't make any suggestions (except to add I especially love Stuart McBride). However, when I find a new writer I am pretty obsessed about reading their books in order. A good site for the order of series, and all books by any author in publication date, plus synopses of plots is www.fantasticfiction.com/

As I was writing I thought of a series I don't think anyone has mentioned:
Lincoln Child's/Douglas Preston's Agent Pendergast books. They vary in quality, but at their best they are really great. Very faint supernatural overtones, which have lessened as the series has progressed.
