If so how many did you do? Do you share the results?Wondering what to set for next year.

Number of pages is always interesting. My first book of the year was A Suitable Boy; as a slow reader it took ages!

AgentProvocateur · 31/12/2018 22:04

Yes, I read A House For Mr Biswas. Not quite as big as ASB, but it also took ages.

cheminotte · 31/12/2018 22:05

Aimed for 50, got 46. Some read with DC and a mix of ones that took 2 days vs 2 weeks. I can read in 3 languages but am quicker in English.

brizzledrizzle · 01/01/2019 00:48

I read 200, heaven knows how - insomnia probably!

OllyBJolly · 01/01/2019 01:11

50/50

Only finished last book yesterday!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 01/01/2019 01:16

50/50 with 11 books read in the last month

quietmoon · 01/01/2019 01:21

I've set 50 for this year, already on my first right now Smile

Daftness · 01/01/2019 01:24

Proud of my 13 year old son reading 51 books, he'd set challenge of 40. I read 4 😬.

N0rdicStar · 01/01/2019 08:32

I read 52 out of 50. Going to up it to 55 this year.

100/100
Pleased with that.

TattiePants · 01/01/2019 17:29

I managed 66 this year. I’d originally planned to read 60 but increased it to 65 half way through the year as I was way ahead. Slowed down a bit since so pleased I hit my target. I read for at least an hour every night, longer if I’m enjoying a book (I have been known to be still reading at 3am if I really love what I’m reading). I also read with DD in the car most school mornings for about 25 minutes so include those books in my total.

whippetwoman · 01/01/2019 17:48

I read 122 - my goal was 100 so not bad.

LBOCS2 · 01/01/2019 17:52

142 out of 150. It was an ambitious goal made harder by the fact that rereads didn't count and I struggled a bit towards the end of the year to find anything I really wanted to read.

ArtisanPopcorn · 01/01/2019 17:53

38/30 so I'm upping it to 40 this year. I'm hoping each year as my daughter gets older it'll be easier to read more.

fleshmarketclose · 01/01/2019 18:02

I set 75 and in fact read 132. I've stopped watching TV and just read instead. Will set 100 this year and see how I go.

Sarcelle · 02/01/2019 06:47

I thought I did well with 41 last year, but some of the amounts others have read have put me to shame!

BarbaraofSevillle · 03/01/2019 19:49

Most people won't have the free time to read 100-150 books per week, or the books could be very short, or they may skim read.

So you just have to think what's a good number for you Sarcelle and are you making good use of your free time by reading, rather than wasting it on the internet, or are you taking on an unfair amount of household chores, or whatever it is that stops you reading?

Like many others, I need to spend a lot less time pissing about on here and read instead. That's what I want to do, it's just a small matter of putting it into practice.

I would be overjoyed with 41 books a year as I've managed 20-30 for the past 3 years that I've been tracking on Good Reads, and probably 10 of those each year have been holiday reads, which means I'm not reading anywhere near as much as I could be.

tobee · 05/01/2019 13:24

I've not done this before on goodreads but this year have set myself 24. Two a month for me seems a doable challenge.

I find it very interesting seeing the indications of people's different reading speeds here! I'm definitely a slow reader. I have set my phone to restrict my social media time to 1/2 hour a day to see how that goes. Smile

JiltedJohnsJulie · 05/01/2019 13:58

I set my target at 12 and actually managed 24. Nowhere near as many as some on this thread but I’m still pleased.
