If so how many did you do? Do you share the results?Wondering what to set for next year.

OP posts:
RisingGround · 31/12/2018 08:56

Yes. Set mine for 75 in 2018 and exceeded it by about 20. Nowhere near my reading levels of previous years due to big changes at home but still a reasonable one.

I like to set the bar lower than my actual plan, so that I'm always slightly ahead, just in case other things get in the way of my reading. Relatively stress-free then ☺

thismeansnothing · 31/12/2018 09:12

I read 12 out of my set challenge of 30.

But it's kindly telling me that if I read 18 a day I'll meet my challenge 🤣

Tinkhasflown · 31/12/2018 10:38

I read 20 last year so set my challenge at 25 for this year. I read 40, although will give a lot of credit for that to the 25 book challenge thread on here. Not sure I will do so well this year but will increase it to 40 or 35. I think 40 is unusual for me!

TonTonMacoute · 31/12/2018 16:14

Set my target at 50, but only managed 26, but that did include several books in French and a couple of quite chewy non-fiction titles.

Mischiefinthewind · 31/12/2018 16:18

Me, I set mine for 52, one new book a week. I managed to read 56. I never count all the re-reading of favourites.

Nandocushion · 31/12/2018 16:22

41/45, disappointed in myself. Going to set it for 50 in 2019.

umpteennamechanges · 31/12/2018 16:29

21/40 Blush

Mainly because I stopped commuting on the train due to a change of job in May which now means a 1.5 hour drive.

Much more tiring and loss of reading time on the train. I got a 12 month subscription to Audible though for Xmas so should get 12 in on my commute this year Grin

I'm going to set the bar at 25 in 2019.

InMySpareTime · 31/12/2018 16:45

63/60, but 10 of those were in December as I got a lot of books for my birthday.
I will set it for 70 next year, for a stretch (should get a head start with the rest of my birthday books).

Kilash · 31/12/2018 19:11

63/60 for me, v pleased as I only just made 50 last year. Going to try 70 for 2019.

drspouse · 31/12/2018 19:12

Yes, and I exceeded it by quite a bit because I kept marking books I read ages ago.

drspouse · 31/12/2018 19:13

(But off Goodreads I actually aimed to read 26 and read 40)

TeaMeBasil · 31/12/2018 20:48

38/45 for me which was a bit disappointing as I felt I was reading very well, no major gaps between books but there was a big house move that knocked my attention off.

And was probably due in part to a couple of big books that were not bad enough to put down but I wasn't picking up at every opportunity either.

Aiming for 40 for 2019 and hoping to exceed it!

CherryValance · 31/12/2018 20:51

Set for 60 and read 89, more than last two years but fewer than my best year of 101. I might up it to 75 for next year but I want to do more writing than reading in 2019

NigelGresley · 31/12/2018 20:58

Those of you who read over 50 books a year- how much time per day do you spend reading?
If I’m on holiday I can read a book in a week, but at other times of the year that seems impossible!

drspouse · 31/12/2018 21:02

I nearly read 50, but some of them were VERY short, and I read quickly. I read most nights in the bath, occasionally on the bus but it's only a 20 min journey.

RedForShort · 31/12/2018 21:05

Managed my 45 - half way through 46, not going to finish it as there's still 300 pages!!

Most of my books are 500 pages plus (and I'm not a fast reader) so I'm never going to get more than 45.

CherryValance · 31/12/2018 21:05

Usually an hour or so a day, maybe more if I’m really into something but I’m a fast reader!

Myfanwyprice · 31/12/2018 21:08

I did, 30 out of 30, undecided whether to stick with 30 or set a higher target as a challenge.

Chopsypie · 31/12/2018 21:11

93/75 for me. But a good few of them were ‘fluff’ that only took a few hours each. Going to stick to the 75 target and try and keep the same mix of high and low brow!

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 31/12/2018 21:11

I set my target at 12 this year due to some academic work I had going on. I am about 2hrs away from hitting no.19.

Setting to 30 this year. If I set too high (for me) then the target impacts my decisions on what to read too much.

I am excited as I have a pile that I am really looking forward to reading.

Chopsypie · 31/12/2018 21:12

@NigelGresley - I don’t watch TV. So when OH sits down and puts a show on, I pick up my book. I think I read for 2 hours a night, more on weekends. I also have a kindle that comes everywhere with me so I read as I’m cooking, in the bath, at lunchtime etc

Sarcelle · 31/12/2018 21:20

Aimed for 30 but did 41.

One of my NY Resolutions is to read more (less screen time) so I have bought brighter bulbs (dim lighting was putting me off) and my target is 45 for 2019.

tubspreciousthings · 31/12/2018 21:26

12/12 here - it was a struggle but going to up it to 24 next year to keep momentum going

girlandboy · 31/12/2018 21:37

41/30 but some were a bit short. I'll probably set the same number for 2019.

AgentProvocateur · 31/12/2018 21:45

I set my challenge at 30 but read 44. V chuffed.
