I’ve read the first four in a week, I’m hooked! Anyone else?

I’m just about to start The moon sister, so warn me if you have spoilers!! Grin

Who is Pa Salt? What are the connections?

What are people’s thoughts?

I love them. We have Elektra next I think, but I suspect we will have to wait for the "sister who never arrived" for all to be revealed.

moonlight1705 · 09/12/2018 18:21

Oooh I've really got into those, its going to be a while before the Electra one comes out.

I think Pa Salt has to be alive looking for the seventh sister somewhere but don't know how or why.

Puddingmama2017 · 09/12/2018 18:23

I know, I keep thinking back what Pa Salt told Maia ( that he’d never found her) meaning he’d been meant to? Someone had given him the task of finding them all?

I’m sure they’re all connected somehow through people we’ve already met but I can’t for the life of me see the links!

I like these. I have bought my mother the moon sister for Christmas, with full intentions of reading it after her Blush.

missclimpson · 09/12/2018 18:27

I sometimes wonder if the housekeeper Marina? is a link. Not sure how though.

Puddingmama2017 · 09/12/2018 18:33

I wondered about Marina too, but I can’t see her being connected to the girls as then it would favour that one and the author has been so careful to give them their own ones away from their upbringing. I’m sure she’s actually married to Pa Salt though.

Could they be the parents of Merope and just mislaid her somewhere?

Puddingmama2017 · 09/12/2018 18:40

Ooooooh, I like that possibility!!

Aside from the mystery aspect, I’ve found them totally addictive because of the storylines for each sister, the backgrounds to their families and the amount of historical detail for multiple cultures. Not been so captured by a story in a long time.

I thought I wouldn't like the latest one about Tiggy, but I loved it.

Puddingmama2017 · 09/12/2018 19:16

I’m starting it tonight, been looking forward to hers as we’ve not heard much about her (even less about Electra which I think is interesting). My favourite so far has been CeCe’s I think, but I did really enjoy Ally’s.

I’m convinced we’ve met Pa Salt already, (The little boy in France in Maia’s story, Bo in Ally’s perhaps?)

Wow, is this a series about a family of seven girls??
I love stories about large families!

MynameisJune · 10/12/2018 06:43

So glad this just popped up on active threads! I love the books and didn’t realise the new one was out. Doesn’t seem that long since Cece’s book.

missclimpson · 10/12/2018 06:44

Six girls (so far) all adopted by the mysterious Pa Salt and brought up in luxury in Geneva. Each book traces the story of one daughter and flips between the present and the past as they discover their origins and how they came to be adopted.

Just started really getting into the moon sister, wondering what the significance of the keypad locks in both this book and CeCe’s both having the code ‘7777’?

The author has said there’s loads of little clues through out the books.

OP posts:
Puddingmama2017 · 10/12/2018 12:26

I’m sure it can’t just be because there’s ‘seven sisters’

virginqueen · 12/12/2018 12:58

Does it matter if you read them out of sequence ? Are they separate stories in their own right ?

Puddingmama2017 · 12/12/2018 19:27

They are separate stories but they link in together so you’ll miss bits reading them out of sequence.

Puddingmama2017 · 14/12/2018 18:41

Well, I’ve finished the moon sister and now have more questions with no answers!

OP posts:
MynameisJune · 14/12/2018 19:52

I’ve finished it too, really enjoyed it. Lots of questions that I don’t think will be answered until the last book.

I’m not sure whether Pa is still around or not. The books lead you to think so but I’m not convinced it isn’t a diversion tactic.

Chickoletta · 16/12/2018 11:17

I’ve read lots of Lucinda Riley’s books and really love her. I’ve only read the original Sevn Sisters of these though and didn’t enjoy it as much as her other novels.
Does anyone else find her dialogue really contrived and unrealistic? It always annoys me for about the first 10 pages and then I get absorbed in the plot.
My absolute favourite of her books is The Light Behind the Window - it’s about a reluctant British spy living in Paris in WW2. Really gripping.

Chewbecca · 16/12/2018 11:30

chick - really interested you said that as these books really annoy me at the start - I find it is so overtly 'scene setting' that it feels unnatural. Then I get into the story of the particular sister and really love it.

I've only read the first three (Brazil, Norway and the sailing one), am saving the next for a holiday as I really enjoy these on a sunbed! I have recommended the series to a couple of people so far who both really enjoyed.
