Evening all, everyone's been v busy since Fri

Just watched the interview, thought Wossy could've done better really!

MrsWeasley · 09/07/2007 19:26

yeah that what I thought but she was never going to give away anything big, was she? Perhaps he should have interviewed her after the book. Then he could atleast ask her questions about its contents!

rosmerta · 09/07/2007 19:39

what do you think?

Personally, I'm not sure, as much as I love harry I quite like the idea of it having a definite ending!

dewmeadow · 09/07/2007 19:46

Dumbledore is NOT EVIL!!

Which book does Petunia say "that awful boy"?

I dont think shes nice at all. If she was only being mean to please her husband she would have found some secret way to be nice to Harry, ie slip him some food when he was being starved, been nice on his birthday, not dressed him in horrible Dudders castoffs. Nah! I think she's an oul hag! But I like the idea of her being jealous of her sister, who was obviously pretty, clever, popular and loved by all.

rosmerta · 09/07/2007 19:50

She says it in the OotP

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 20:37

I think the gleam in DD's eye is because, by using Harry's blood, Vhas weakened himself in some way. Possibly it somehow led to the fact he couldn't occupy Harry's body in OOTP, but I also think it means that it's given V a weakness against Harry because to destroy Harry he will have to destroy his benefactor (albeit forced). It's a blood debt in a way (like the one Wormtail has). I do think Snape has acted always under his own free will, but he has agreed to o down a path that he doesn't want. It's almost lie the road to redemption lies on the way to hell iykwim.

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 21:03

There's a rival HP thread here

PhoenixSongbird · 09/07/2007 21:12

Pah shmah! Who needs that other thread?

I seem to remember reading a quote from JKR (can't remember where though) saying that there's not much more to Dudley than what we've seen, so I don't think it's him that does magic late in life. If it was though, it could be mentioned in the epilogue part, rather than the main story, so he could be any age.

PhoenixSongbird · 09/07/2007 21:13

I can't believe we're well on our way to filling this thread as well! Roll on number 3!!!

When are we going to choose the name of the Deathly Hallows thread and who's going to start it and when?

I propose "Who's finished Deathly Hallows? Spoiler alert!"

or summat.

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 21:15

Damn I had planned it all out to spend all day reading DH. Now I'm going to be sat in a church and getting drunk. How early do you think I could slope back to the hotel - after the speeches?

PhoenixSongbird · 09/07/2007 21:19

And I think my parents might come and stay that weekend, which means I can't bugger off for a few hours to read the book, and I won't be able to read in bed as we'll be in with dd. I might have to sleep downstairs on the sofabed!

PhoenixSongbird · 09/07/2007 21:20

You could offer to do a reading in the church - how funny would that be?

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 21:20

Maybe your parents could babysit while you read????

PhoenixSongbird · 09/07/2007 21:23

Ooh, good idea! Might not go down well as we haven't seen them since May!

Do you think Deathly Hallows could mean some kind of afterlife?

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 21:25

Surely they're there to see their grandchildren not you - or is that just my parents lol!
Well JKR did mention that the book would show how close you could get to death (to communicate) so I think you could have a point.

persephonesnape · 09/07/2007 21:33

deathly hallows thread titles

AIBU: to want everyone to shut up and let me read Deathly Hallows?!? ( spoiler alert!)

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 21:35

Excellent PSnape. Saw you on the rival thread - did they have anything interesting to say?

persephonesnape · 09/07/2007 21:35

i thought it was a place, but I've read somewhere that a hallow is a token - so technically they're the horcruxes...and they're deathly because.... BLOOOODBAAAAAAAAAAAATH!

no, albus, just rehashing all the usual stuff, but not to the level of 'geek' that we have attained over here. a lot of them seem to think Harry will die. I still don't think so.

'...At some point there will not be enough life force for both of you. One of you will have to go."

"Neither can live while the other survives." Lupin said ominously.

"I never really understood that part of the prophecy." Harry said. "I mean, I've been alive for sixteen years now. Voldemort's still around. If both of us can't live, why isn't one of us dead already?"

basically if Harry dies, then V has won. It may not be disney, but it is a childrens book FFS, and to kill Harry deadens hope. JKR just wouldn't.

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 09/07/2007 21:47

Although saying that am peturbed by the thought that Harry might lose his powers. Does that mean he couldn't play Quidditch ever again?

Not if the evil V is dead surely. Isn't it one of Harry's greatest pleasures and something he loves? DP can't play football anymore as he has dodgy knees and it's like Samson with his hair cut off!

As per Mrs Weasley - HE IS NOT GOING TO DIE!
