Hope there aren't now about 10 of these cos we've all opened at the same time.

OP posts:

the girl who plays luna IS Luna, she is lovely!

LOL at the comments about the cardigan wearing Harry!

As for Wossy: firstly I should say I am a fan of this programme but found him dreadful, harry reading dirty mags, no tears are DD Death, no mention of sirius. Poor Poor Poor Perhaps he is a closet Death Eater!

thought twice about watching the making of but couldn't help myself (i recorded it and watched it a bit later) was worried it would show me to much but its made me more excited, if thats possible.
Thursday is all planned out and I have even planned meals(normally I'm not a planner)

Nightynight · 08/07/2007 07:50

oh no I am glad I didnt see that programme then. Ross clearly not in tune with the Mood of the Nation.

dewmeadow, I am also a Neville supporter...I really want him to be The One and kill Voldemort. Together with Snape and Harry perhaps, but Neville should deliver the final blow. That would divert all the adulation and fame off Harry.
It would be a dreadful ending if Harry's magical powers turned out to die at Voldemort's death, or something like that, because the only good thing that Harry has had in his life up til now, is magic. Without that, he would really have nothing.

dewmeadow · 08/07/2007 08:58

thats right NIghtyN!! Poor Harry - he might as well be dead if he had no powers! Maybe he will be reunited with his family and Sirius beyond teh veil and tehre will be a bittersweet moment of loss/gain.

Do we know who Luna saw die?

TransfiguratingLily · 08/07/2007 09:06

Morning dew (I've been up since 5am )

Harry could be happy with ginny and teaching theory at hogwarts if he loses his powers....yeah it would be a bit sad...but the alternative is too much to bear...unless we get a look behind the veil and it seems like a happy ending if he goes there to join his loved ones..?

Nightynight · 08/07/2007 09:30

I cant see that happening though, because JKR hasnt developed a vision of what life after death actually is, apart from hints like "the next great adventure." She would have to create a whole new world, surely she wont do that in the last book.

We watched film 4 for the first time last night (I am so stingy, I wouldnt buy it last summer because it cost 22 euros)

I now see some more point to Viktor Krum. It struck me strongly how in the films, Snapes hatred for Harry is really played down compared to the books. Snape looks concerned for Harry far more than hating him.

TransfiguratingLily · 08/07/2007 09:37

There was mention of Sirius featuring again, so I was wondering if it'll be possible for people behind the veil (ie dead) to come back as a temperory ghost in emergencys?

MrsWeasley · 08/07/2007 09:56

dewmeadow: Lovely Luna saw her mum die. (According to Luna: she was an extraordinary wizard who liked to experiment. Killed when one of her spells went wrong. Luna was 9 and saw it happen. )

There are some theories in NOTW today here. Most of it we've already covered but an interesting point about JKR saying you'll see how close you can get to the dead.

tigerschick · 08/07/2007 14:13

There are some points in that NOTW article. Like the bit about the meaning of the title. It hadn't occurred to me to question what it means. I guess that's because we didn't know what the other titles meant before we read the books. (I mean, we hadn't heard of the Chamber of Secrets or the Goblet of Fire etc before we read the stories)

I'm also liking the stuff about Snape and JKR's reaction to being asked about him. Have to say, I'm coming more and more to thinking that Snape is going to be the one who ultimately helps Harry the most.

There is already a portrait of Dumbledore in the Headmistress's office at Hogwarts so maybe that is why Harry, or Ron or Hermione, go back there: to get help from him.

Hmmm, lots to think about ... Not long now ... but still toooooo long!!!!!

suezee · 08/07/2007 14:48

well i watched the jonothan ross show on friday night and jk said that kreacher has quite an important part in the last, she was saying that she wouldnt let the film makers cut kreacher out of the new film because he plays a big part in the last ever book. im so glad i found this thread i only joined 2 days ago and i love harry potter. All i know is that 1 has to die for the other to live and i cant see it being harry.

MrsWeasley · 08/07/2007 15:07

just spend ages trying to work out what NOTW was!!!! LOL

suezee · 08/07/2007 15:14

wot was the notw saying?????, i went to the shop this morning for it but they sold out,

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 08/07/2007 15:25

Hello Suezee glad you found us. As you can see some of us have HP names in readiness for the new film/book. I'm normally Sunshinemummy.
Sorry MrsW NOTW is my guilty pleasure!
I had just assumed that Deathly Hallows was a place but it is interesting to think of it as the horcruxes. I love the fact that JKR tries to give clues without giving too much away.

suezee · 08/07/2007 15:33

i just cant wait, harry potter is mine and my dads special thing we just sit on the phone for ages coming up with ideas for the new book, i really think that draco is going to be converted at the most crucial point, as i truly felt sory for him in the half blood prince, i dont think he really wanted to have anything to do with dumbledores death at all.and i think voldermort is going to kill snape for trying to protect harry, does anyone else think that mrs dursley could be a secret witch but too ashamed to say anything, i really think she got powers when harry was left on her doorstep?????????

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 08/07/2007 15:36

Apparently JKR has said Aunt Petunia doesn't do magic, but she definitely knows more than she's letting on. I do think Harry might rescue Draco from the Death Eaters and they might call truce as he definitely got in deeper than he anticipated.

suezee · 08/07/2007 15:40

well one things for sure the final fight is just going to be harry and voldermort, harry is of course the chosen one. does anyone think that he will return to hogwarts at all in thelast book as he did say he wasnt goin to finish his last year off

fillyjonk · 08/07/2007 15:43

yes agree redemption of malfoy will be very key

i actually think that this is why dumbledore let himself be killed

snape is of course good

promise he made was to protect malfoy. he made this initially to dumbledore, meaning that he could take an unbreakable vow or whatever its called.

i kind of think malfoy's redemption will be key, echoing snape's earlier redemption

fillyjonk · 08/07/2007 15:44

lol at names!

will have to think of one

suezee · 08/07/2007 15:49

if snape didnt make the unbreakable vow to dracos mother she would have gone straight to voldermort and told him.I agree that dumbledore let himself be sacrificed by snape for the greater good.

fillyjonk · 08/07/2007 15:55

dumbledore was talking about snape keeping his word or something, wasn't he?

I think this is all part of a master plan

what would mrs malfoy have told voldemort and what effect would it have had anyway, seeing as how voldemort has been trying unsucessfully to return to dominance for years?

actually I have another minor theory which is that snape IS evil but that DD factored this into his plans.

oooh this is rather fun. But where is dumbledoresgirl here?

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 08/07/2007 15:59

Snape definitely good and I also think he killed DD to save Malfoy. Wonder if Draco will die trying to help Harry?

fillyjonk · 08/07/2007 16:02

I THINK he lives

Because I think the "inner theme" of the books is the triumph of good over evil but kind of by people being redeemed/behaving in a good way, etc. The good people behave very differently to the bad people.

SO

I think Malfoy probably needs to live for this to be seen. I THINK.

bloody hell, 2 weeks. Its not long, is it?
